Job summary

PruittHealth in Georgia-Blue Ridge is seeking a Nursing position to provide routine daily nursing care to assigned patients under supervision. You will follow patient care plans, monitor vital signs, and assist with activities of daily living in a team environment.

The role emphasizes patient safety, accurate documentation, and collaboration with the nurse supervisor. On‑the‑job training is provided for Certified Nursing Assistants and related roles.

Qualifications

  • Some high school or high school diploma or GED required.
  • On‑the‑job training provided.
  • Temporary Nurse Aide must not have adverse findings on criminal background checks.
  • Temporary Nurse Aide must be able to demonstrate competency to provide nursing services consistent with CMS waiver requirements.
  • High school graduate preferred. Previous experience preferred. Familiarity and willingness to work with the elderly population.

Job description

Job Purpose

Provides each of the assigned patients with routine daily nursing care and services in accordance with the patient’s assessment and care plan, and as directed by the nurse supervisor.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provides care ensuring patient/resident safety
  • Applies & releases restraints, and provides exercise
  • Assists residents in and out of bed and into wheelchair with the correct use of the transfer belt and practices proper body mechanics while moving/transferring patients
  • Assists residents in bathing: bed baths, tub baths, and showers
  • Assists residents in dressing or undressing, and personal grooming (oral/denture care, brushing hair, trimming fingernails and toenails, skin care and shaving)
  • Assists residents to and from activities as requested
  • Assists residents to dining area for meals; passes food trays to individuals in accordance with diet cards on tray and needs; documents intake of nourishment, and identifies the four basic food groups on a sample breakfast, lunch, and dinner tray
  • Assists with admissions, discharges, and transfers as requested; understands and utilizes care plans
  • Cleans bedpans and empty catheter bags, provides external/indwelling catheter care, provides incontinent care as needed for residents
  • Offers fluids at appropriate times (including routine ice and water rounds) and distributes fresh water to patients and picks up used water pitchers
  • Properly documents in accordance with established guidelines; receives and gives reports on patient’s status or condition and notifies nurse of any changes in resident condition
  • Reports skin irritation around ostomy bag to the Charge Nurse; reports problems with ostomy bag to the Charge Nurse
  • Provides range of motion exercises for residents
  • Provides routine care for the bedfast patient; turns residents intermittently if patient is bedridden due to illness
  • Recognizes and reports signs/symptoms of abuse to Charge Nurse/Administrator, and identifies and reports changes in condition to Charge Nurse
  • Removes bedding and replaces with clean linens per schedule or condition, and as needed
  • Takes vital signs of patient (temperature, blood pressure, respiration) and records information, reporting I/O, any changes in medical condition, and care given

  • Communicates well with patients/residents/clients and family members, providing a warm and friendly greeting and an approachable demeanor
  • Responds to expressed concerns displaying a helpful, caring demeanor
  • Answers questions when appropriate in a professional manner
  • Participates in center/agency surveys (Licensure / JCAHO) and any subsequently required reports
  • Attends and participates in continuing educational programs to stay abreast of changes in the field
  • Attends and participates in mandatory in‑services
  • Honors patients/residents’ rights to fair and equitable treatment, self‑determination, individuality, privacy, property and civil rights, including the right to wage complaints
  • Complies with corporate compliance program
  • Reports job‑related functions/tasks that involve occupational hazards including exposure to blood and body fluids and others as necessary
  • Follows established safety regulations (fire protection & prevention, smoking regulations, infection control, etc.)
  • Follows established safety procedures when performing tasks and/or working with equipment
  • Performs other related duties as necessary and as directed by the nurse supervisor
Minimum Education Required

Some high school or high school diploma or GED required.

Minimum Experience Required

On‑the‑job training provided.

Minimum Licensure/Certification Required By Law
