Job summary

Amedisys is seeking a part-time Hospice Aide (CNA) to provide compassionate personal care in patients' homes. The role supports patients in comfort, safety, and independence, with flexible scheduling for up to 24 hours per week.

Compensation ranges from $19 to $22 per hour, and eligibility includes enrollment in Amedisys health plans with PTO and benefits. Responsibilities include assisting with daily living activities, assisting with meals, documenting patient status, and following care plans

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Current CNA certification/registration per state requirements.
• CPR certification is required.
• Valid driver's license with reliable transportation is required.

Responsibilities

• Provide personal care services to patients.
• Apply safety principles and proper body mechanics during care tasks.
• Plan and prepare nutritious meals and assist with feeding.
• Perform homemaking and environmental services as assigned.
• Observe and document changes in patient status and report to the primary nurse.
• Follow written instructions for personal care prepared by a registered nurse.
• Assist patients with prescribed exercises as instructed.
• Perform and record simple urine tests for sugar, acetone, and albumin.
• Other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

• Provides personal care services to patients.
• Applies safety principles and proper body mechanics to the performance of specific techniques of personal and supportive care such as ambulation of clients, transferring clients, assisting with the normal range of motion and positioning, and doing household chores.
• Plans and prepares nutritious meals, assists with feeding, as assigned.
• Performs homemaking and other environmental services as assigned.
• Observes, reports, and documents any changes in patient's status. If unable to perform a certain task, report to the primary nurse.
• Follow specific written instructions for personal care prepared by a registered nurse in accordance with the plan of care. Written instructions are to be received prior to the delivery of services.
• Assists patients with prescribed exercises as instructed by nurse or therapist.
• Performs and records simple urine tests for sugar, acetone, and albumin.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Current state certification (or registration) as a nurse assistant as per state certification/registration requirements.
• CNA experience within the last two years.
• Current CPR certification.
• Valid driver's license, reliable transportation and liability insurance.
