Job summary

Amedisys is seeking a dedicated hospice aide in Jeffersonville, Indiana for full-time day shifts. You will provide personal care, assist with daily living activities, monitor patient status, perform light housekeeping, meal preparation, and support families in the home setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Current state certification (or registration) as a nurse assistant per state requirements.
• CNA experience within the last two years.
• Current CPR certification.
• Valid driver's license, reliable transportation and liability insurance.

Responsibilities

• Provides personal care services to patients.
• Applies safety principles and proper body mechanics for personal care, ambulation, transfers, ROM and positioning, and domestic tasks.
• Plans and prepares nutritious meals, assists with feeding, and performs meal-related tasks as assigned.
• Performs homemaking and other environmental services as assigned.
• Observes, reports, and documents changes in patient status; reports to the primary nurse as needed.
• Follows written instructions for personal care from the registered nurse per plan of care.
• Assists patients with prescribed exercises as instructed by the nurse or therapist.
• Performs and records simple urine tests for sugar, acetone, and albumin.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Applies safety principles and proper body mechanics to the performance of specific techniques of personal and supportive care such as ambulation of clients, transferring clients, assisting with the normal range of motion and positioning, and doing household chores.
• Plans and prepares nutritious meals, assists with feeding, as assigned.
• Performs homemaking and other environmental services as assigned.
• Observes, reports, and documents any changes in patient's status. If unable to perform a certain task, report to the primary nurse.
• Follow specific written instructions for personal care prepared by a registered nurse in accordance with the plan of care. Written instructions are to be received prior to the delivery of services.
• Assists patients with prescribed exercises as instructed by nurse or therapist.
• Performs and records simple urine tests for sugar, acetone, and albumin.
• Other duties as assigned.
