Job summary

Amedisys is seeking a CNA Hospice Aide to provide compassionate in-home care for patients in the East Hartford area. The position runs Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, with competitive pay and benefits designed for field staff.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Current state CNA certification per state requirements.
• CNA experience within the last two years.
• Current CPR certification required.
• Valid driver's license with reliable transportation and liability insurance.

Responsibilities

• Provides personal care to patients.
• Uses safety principles and body mechanics during care tasks.
• Plans and prepares nutritious meals and assists with feeding.
• Performs homemaking and environmental chores as assigned.
• Observes and reports changes in patient status to the nurse.
• Follows written care instructions from a registered nurse before delivering services.
• Assists with prescribed exercises as directed by nurse or therapist.
• Performs basic urine tests and records results.
• Other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

• Provides personal care services to patients.

• Applies safety principles and proper body mechanics to the performance of specific techniques of personal and supportive care such as ambulation of clients, transferring clients, assisting with the normal range of motion and positioning, and doing household chores.
• Plans and prepares nutritious meals, assist’s with feeding, as assigned.
• Performs homemaking and other environmental services as assigned.
• Observes, reports, and documents any changes in patient's status. If unable to perform a certain task, report to the primary nurse.
• Follow specific written instructions for personal care prepared by a registered nurse in accordance with the plan of care. Written instructions are to be received prior to the delivery of services.
• Assists patients with prescribed exercises as instructed by nurse or therapist.
• Performs and records simple urine tests for sugar, acetone, and albumin.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.

• Current state certification (or registration) as a nurse assistant as per state certification/registration requirements.
• CNA experience within the last two years.
• Current CPR certification.
• Valid driver's license, reliable transportation and liability insurance.
