Job summary

Amedisys is seeking a hospice aide to deliver compassionate, in-home care in the Pender, Bladen, and Hanover areas. This full-time daytime role includes personal care, meal support, and light homemaking under the supervision of a registered nurse.

You will observe changes in patient condition, follow care plans, and assist with prescribed exercises and mobility. A valid driver's license and reliable transportation are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Current state certification (or registration) as a nurse assistant is required.
• CPR certification is required.

Responsibilities

• Provides personal care services to patients.
• Applies safety principles and proper body mechanics during care tasks.
• Plans and prepares nutritious meals and assists with feeding.
• Performs homemaking and environmental services as assigned.
• Observes and reports changes in patient status to the nurse.
• Follows written instructions from the nurse and assists with prescribed exercises.

Responsibilities

• Provides personal care services to patients.
• Applies safety principles and proper body mechanics to the performance of specific techniques of personal and supportive care such as ambulation of clients, transferring clients, assisting with the normal range of motion and positioning, and doing household chores.
• Plans and prepares nutritious meals, assists with feeding, as assigned.
• Performs homemaking and other environmental services as assigned.
• Observes, reports, and documents any changes in patient’s status. If unable to perform a certain task, report to the primary nurse.
• Follow specific written instructions for personal care prepared by a registered nurse in accordance with the plan of care. Written instructions are to be received prior to the delivery of services.
• Assists patients with prescribed exercises as instructed by nurse or therapist.
• Performs and records simple urine tests for sugar, acetone, and albumin.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Current state certification (or registration) as a nurse assistant as per state certification/registration requirements.
• CNA experience within the last two years.
• Current CPR certification.
• Valid driver's license, reliable transportation and liability insurance.
