Job summary

Amedisys is seeking a hospice aide to support patients at home. This part-time role covers 20–30 hours per week, offering flexible days and meaningful patient care.

You will provide personal care, assistance with meals, light housekeeping, and monitoring patient status, reporting to the nurse as needed. Competitive pay and benefits are included, with health plans and PTO options.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Current state CNA certification/registration.
• CNA experience within last two years.
• Current CPR certification.
• Valid driver's license with reliable transportation and liability insurance.

Responsibilities

• Provide personal care services to patients.
• Apply safety principles and proper body mechanics during care.
• Plan and prepare nutritious meals and assist with feeding.
• Perform homemaking and environmental tasks as assigned.
• Observe and report changes in patient status to the nurse.
• Follow written instructions for care prepared by a registered nurse.
• Assist patients with prescribed exercises as directed.
• Perform simple urine tests as requested.
• Other duties as assigned.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent

Current state CNA certification/registration

CNA experience within the last two years

Current CPR certification

Responsibilities

• Provides personal care services to patients.


• Applies safety principles and proper body mechanics to the performance of specific techniques of personal and supportive care such as ambulation of clients, transferring clients, assisting with the normal range of motion and positioning, and doing household chores.


• Plans and prepares nutritious meals, assists with feeding, as assigned.


• Performs homemaking and other environmental services as assigned.


• Observes, reports, and documents any changes in patient's status. If unable to perform a certain task, report to the primary nurse.


• Follow specific written instructions for personal care prepared by a registered nurse in accordance with the plan of care. Written instructions are to be received prior to the delivery of services.


• Assists patients with prescribed exercises as instructed by nurse or therapist.


• Performs and records simple urine tests for sugar, acetone, and albumin.


• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.


• Current state certification (or registration) as a nurse assistant as per state certification/registration requirements.


• CNA experience within the last two years.


• Current CPR certification.


• Valid driver's license, reliable transportation and liability insurance.
