Job summary

Amedisys is seeking a hospice aide to provide compassionate in-home personal care in the Canton area. You will work full-time days, visiting patients in their homes and following a prescribed plan of care.

The role emphasizes safety, mobility assistance, meal support, and homemaking tasks, with documentation of patient status and collaboration with nurses and therapists. Competitive pay and comprehensive benefits accompany this position.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Current state certification (or registration) as a nurse assistant.
• CNA experience within the last two years.
• Current CPR certification.
• Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation and liability insurance.

Responsibilities

• Provides personal care services to patients.
• Applies safety principles and proper body mechanics to the performance of personal and supportive care techniques such as ambulation, transferring, and assisting with ROM and positioning, and doing household chores.
• Plans and prepares nutritious meals, assists with feeding, as assigned.
• Performs homemaking and other environmental services as assigned.
• Observes, reports, and documents any changes in patient’s status; report to the primary nurse if unable to perform a task.
• Follow written instructions for personal care prepared by a registered nurse in accordance with the plan of care.
• Assists patients with prescribed exercises as instructed by nurse or therapist.
• Performs and records simple urine tests for sugar, acetone, and albumin.
• Other duties as assigned.
