Job summary

Senior Home Companions of Florida is seeking a dedicated Nursing Assistant to provide compassionate, one-on-one care for seniors in homes, hospitals, and assisted living settings.

You will assist with daily living activities, monitor basic health indicators, maintain a clean, safe environment, document in electronic health records, and support the nursing team. A Level 2 background screening is required.

Qualifications

• Must be a CNA or HHA with relevant licensure.
• Experience caring for seniors; Alzheimer's/Dementia experience preferred.
• English language proficiency required.

Responsibilities

• Provide non-medical personal care (bathing, grooming, toileting).
• Assist with daily living activities (light housekeeping, meal prep).
• Offer companionship and engage clients in activities.
• Monitor and record vital signs (temperature, pulse, respiration, BP).
• Support in ICU and medical-surgical units as needed.
• Assist with client transfers.
• Maintain infection-control practices and a clean, safe environment.
• Assist nursing staff with procedures and treatments.
• Document patient information accurately in EHR systems.
• Educate patients on basic health concepts and care instructions.

• Participate in patient education by teaching basic health concepts and care instructions

What We’re Looking For

• Experience: Someone who is experienced in the field and with Alzheimer's/Dementia and holds a CNA and/or HHA license
• Compassion: A genuine love for spending time with seniors and making them smile and a commitment to maintaining patient dignity,
• Skills: Ability to assist with personal care, daily living activities, companionship, and other client needs.

Requirements

• Experience in a hospital or assisted living setting is a plus
• Knowledge of infectious disease care practices
• Ability to work effectively in high-pressure environments such as critical care units
• Strong communication skills to interact with patients, families, and healthcare team members
• Must be able to speak, read and write English
• Physical ability to lift patients and perform tasks that require standing for extended periods
• Commitment to providing compassionate care and maintaining patient dignity
• Driver's license is a must, professional liability insurance is preferred
• Must be able to pass a level 2 background
