Sanford is seeking a Nursing Assistant to support nursing personnel in ambulatory settings. You will assist with essential patient care tasks under the supervision of an RN or LPN, and help with vital signs and daily living activities.

The role requires reliable, compassionate care, with a schedule Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. This is a union position with no weekend or holiday shifts, offering stable daytime hours.

Summary

Assists nursing personnel with a variety of patient care activities and related services necessary in caring for the personal needs and comfort of patients. Performs under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).

Job Description

Assist with clinical duties as delegated within roles and responsibilities, personalized training and competency, and needs of specific ambulatory setting. Assists with taking vital signs. Maintains stock of medical supplies needed for registered nurse or physician. Complies with all patient duties assigned. The Nursing Assistant serves as caregiver to the patient during the scheduled work period. Administer delegated tasks and treatments. Record vital statistics and other basic health information. Provide assistance with basic health care needs including rooming the patients, daily living activities; emotional and spiritual needs. Will collect non-invasive biological specimens from patients as needed. Perform clerical work related to scheduling and documenting patient healthcare. Prepare patient treatment areas for use; prepare and clean medical equipment; dispose of biomedical waste in accordance with standards and policy. Clean patient areas or treatment rooms.

Qualifications

• Must have good human relations and communication skills. Must be able to follow procedures and instructions given by the licensed nurse. Must be able to acquire a basic knowledge of patient care principles, medical terminology and equipment within the assigned service area.
• Certification and registration with the Minnesota Board of Nursing Assistant Registry is preferred. Certification is required if designated by law (i.e. Home Care).
