The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) serves as caregiver to the resident during the scheduled work period in long‑term care (LTC). Provides resident‑centered nursing care and daily living assistance to assigned resident under the supervision of a registered nurse (RN). Knowledge of and delivers age‑appropriate care related to the physical and psychological needs of the resident as per care plan. The CNA is expected to follow infection prevention and control policies and use personal protective equipment. The role includes assistance with daily living activities—such as bathing, toileting, grooming, dressing/undressing, and recording vital signs—providing psychosocial support, and assisting with basic health care needs. The CNA assists with transferring, repositioning, and walking using correct transfer techniques and equipment and provides range‑of‑motion and passive exercises. Tasks also include food preparation, dining support, housekeeping, laundry assistance, and participation in wellness and recreational programs. The CNA documents resident interactions and outcomes, communicates changes in resident condition, and may participate in departmental committees as needed.
