Good Samaritan, a not-for-profit senior care provider in Kearney, NE, is seeking a Certified Nursing Assistant to deliver resident-centered care in a long-term care setting. You will assist with daily activities, monitor health, and support infection control under RN supervision.

The role includes evening shifts (2pm–10pm), 40 hours weekly, and a $5,000 sign-on bonus. Qualifications include CNA certification with the State Board or enrollment in a training program, and ongoing competency testing

Qualifications

• Minimum age 16.
• CNA certification with the State Board, or enrollment in a CNA training program for endorsement.
• Annual competency testing and maintenance of 12 hours of continuing education per year.
• Maintain all required certifications per department policy.
• UAP Registry registration where required by state.
• Possibility of Sanford Driver license and medical qualification for driving duties.

Responsibilities

• Assist residents with daily living activities (bathing, toileting, grooming, dressing).
• Record vital signs and document resident status and changes.
• Provide psychosocial support and infection prevention measures.
• Assist with transfers, repositioning, and mobility with proper techniques.
• Support with meals, dining, light housekeeping, and laundry as needed.

Job Summary

The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) serves as caregiver to the resident during the scheduled work period in long‑term care (LTC). Provides resident‑centered nursing care and daily living assistance to assigned resident under the supervision of a registered nurse (RN). Knowledge of and delivers age‑appropriate care related to the physical and psychological needs of the resident as per care plan. The CNA is expected to follow infection prevention and control policies and use personal protective equipment. The role includes assistance with daily living activities—such as bathing, toileting, grooming, dressing/undressing, and recording vital signs—providing psychosocial support, and assisting with basic health care needs. The CNA assists with transferring, repositioning, and walking using correct transfer techniques and equipment and provides range‑of‑motion and passive exercises. Tasks also include food preparation, dining support, housekeeping, laundry assistance, and participation in wellness and recreational programs. The CNA documents resident interactions and outcomes, communicates changes in resident condition, and may participate in departmental committees as needed.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or general equivalency diploma (GED) preferred, but not required.
• Minimum age 16.
• Prior clinical or nursing assistant experience in long‑term care preferred.
• Required Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification with the State Board of Nursing, or certification within four months of start date by enrollment in a training program or endorsement. CNA training and certification are required and provided by the facility.
• Completion of yearly department‑specific competency testing and maintenance of a record of continuing education credits (minimum 12 hours annually).
• Maintenance of all department‑specific required certifications.
• When applicable, certification and registration with the Unlicensed Assistive Person (UAP) Registry in the applicable state.
• Dependent on facility and responsibilities, this role may require a Sanford Category II Driver license and proof of a valid driver’s license, with medical qualification to perform essential driving functions per Sanford Driving Policy.
