Midland Care Connection is seeking a Community Aide (CNA) to deliver in-home, hands-on care for older adults and seriously ill individuals in Topeka, KS. This full-time daytime role supports independence and comfort in a home setting.

Responsibilities include assisting with activities of daily living, meal preparation, light housekeeping, medication reminders, mobility support, and documenting changes for nurses. A valid Kansas CNA certification and clean driving record are required.

Qualifications

• Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification in Kansas.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Ability to provide hands-on ADL assistance (bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, mobility).
• Knowledge of infection control, safety, and patient rights.
• Observe, document, and report changes in client condition to nurses/supervisors.
• Compassionate, respectful, and patient-centered caregiving.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently in clients' homes following care plans.
• Physical ability to lift, bend, and stand for extended periods.
• Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and willingness to travel to clients’ homes.
• Ability to pass background checks, health screenings, and trainings.

Midland Care Connection is a not-for-profit, community-based organization dedicated to helping older adults and seriously ill individuals stay independent and supported in their homes. Established in 1978, we offer a full continuum of care, including hospice, palliative care, home health, grief and loss counseling, and our signature PACE (Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly) program. Our mission centers on "meeting individual needs through innovative care solutions," and we serve people across multiple counties in northeast Kansas.

This CNA position provides essential, hands-on care to clients in their homes to help them remain safe, healthy, and independent. Their responsibilities typically include assisting with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility. They may also help with basic household tasks, meal preparation, and medication reminders. They will monitor and report changes in a client’s condition to nurses or supervisors, support comfort and safety, and offer companionship. Their role is vital in allowing clients—often older adults or individuals with chronic conditions—to remain in a familiar, supportive home environment.

Hours

Full Time | M-F | 8:00am-5:00pm

Pay Rate

• CNA - $17.15+/hour
• HHA - $19.50+/hour

Bonuses

• CNA - $1,000 | HHA - $1,500
• To be paid in two increments at 6 months and 1 year of employment
• + CNA's receive paid training to obtain their HHA license after 60 days

Shift Differentials

• $1.00 Weekdays | 5:00pm – 8:00pm
• $1.50 Weekends | 8:00am – 5:00pm
• $2.00 Weekends | 5:00pm – 8:00am

QualificationsRequired

• Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification in the state of Kansas
• High school diploma or GED
• Ability to provide hands-on assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility
• Basic knowledge of infection control, safety practices, and patient rights
• Ability to observe, document, and report changes in a client’s condition to nurses or supervisors
• Compassionate, respectful, and patient-centered approach to care
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently in clients’ homes while following care plans
• Physical ability to perform job duties, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods
• Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and willingness to travel to clients’ homes
• Ability to pass background checks, health screenings, and required trainings

Preferred

• Previous experience working with older adults, individuals with chronic illness, or those with mobility or cognitive impairments
• Prior home health, hospice, palliative care, or PACE program experience
• Experience assisting with light housekeeping, meal preparation, and medication reminders
• Familiarity with interdisciplinary care teams and community-based healthcare models
• CPR/First Aid certification
• Demonstrated ability to provide emotional support and companionship to clients
