JOBSUMMARY: $13.00-$18.00

Theprimary purpose of the Certified Nursing Assistant position is to provide each assignedresident with excellent daily nursing care and services to assure residentsafety in accordance with the resident’s assessment and plan of care, and asmay be directed by your supervisor.

JOBDUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

AdministrativeFunctions

• Identify residents beforeadministering treatments, serving meals, etc. as necessary.
• Record all entries on flowsheets, notes, charts, etc. in an informative and descriptive manner.
• Use only authorizedabbreviations established by this facility when recording information.
• Report all changes in theresident’s condition to the RN Team Leader as soon as possible.
• Report and providestatement for all events, accidents and incidents you observe on the shiftas they occur.

Admission,Transfer, and Discharge Functions

• Ensure that the resident’sroom is ready for receiving the resident (i.e., bed made, name tags up,admission kit available, etc.)
• Greet residents and escortthem to their room.
• Introduce resident tohis/her roommate, if any, and other residents and personnel asappropriate.
• Make resident comfortable(i.e., put to bed, get water, etc.)
• Inventory and mark theresident’s personal possessions as instructed.
• Store resident’s clothing.
• Assist residents withpacking their personal belongings when they are being transferred ordischarged.
• Transport residents to newrooms or to the receiving area.
• Assist withloading/unloading residents from vehicles as necessary.

PersonnelFunctions

• Perform all assigned tasksin accordance with our established policies and procedures, and asinstructed by your supervisor.
• Follow work assignments,and/or work schedules in completing and performing your assigned tasks.
• Cooperate withinter-departmental personnel, as well as other facility personnel toensure that nursing services can be adequately maintained to meet theneeds of the residents.
• Create and maintain anatmosphere of warmth, personal interest and positive emphasis, as well asa calm environment throughout the unit and the shift.
• Meet with your shift’snursing personnel, on a regularly scheduled basis, to assist inidentifying and correcting problem areas, and/or the improvement ofservices and participate in Team Conference.
• Report all complaints andgrievances made by the resident.
• Notify the facility whenyou will be late or absent from work.
• Report occupationalexposures to blood, body fluids, infectious materials, and hazardouschemicals to your supervisor.

PersonalNursing Care Functions

• Participate in and receivethe nursing report upon reporting for duty.
• Follow establishedpolicies concerning exposure to blood/body fluids.
• Assist residents withhygiene needs to include:

• Dailydental and mouth care (i.e. brushing teeth/dentures, oral hygiene, specialmouth care, etc.)
• Bathing(i.e. bed bath, tub or shower bath, etc.) as directed
• Dressing/undressingas necessary
• Haircare needs (i.e. combing, brushing, shampooing, etc.)
• Nailcare (i.e. clipping, trimming and cleaning the finger/toe nails)
• Shavingmale residents
• Controllinghair growth on female residents (i.e. facial hair, under arms, on legs, etc.)as instructed
• Keepingresidents dry (i.e. change gown, clothing, linen, etc. when they become wet orsoiled)

• Change bed linens. Keeplinens tight to avoid wrinkles from forming under the resident.
• Make beds (occupied andunoccupied.)
• Put extra linens on bed asrequested.
• Position bedfast residentsin correct and comfortable position, utilizing positioning devices asindicated.
• Assist resident with boweland bladder functions (i.e., take to bathroom, offer bedpan/urinal,portable commode, etc.)
• Maintain intake and outputrecords as instructed.
• Keep incontinent residentsclean and dry.
• Check and report bowelmovements and character of stools as instructed.
• Assist residents in preparingfor medical tests and appointments (i.e., lab work, x-ray, therapy,dental, physician dialysis, etc.)
• Assist residents inpreparing for activity and social programs (i.e. church, parties,visitors, physician, dialysis).
• Assist in transportingresidents to/from appointments, activity and social programs, etc. asnecessary.
• Assist with lifting,turning, moving, positioning, and transporting residents into and out ofbeds, chairs, bathtubs, wheelchairs, lifts, etc.
• Assist residents to walkwith or without self-help devices as instructed.
• Provide eye and ear care(i.e., warm/cold compresses, removing wax and hair, cleaningeyeglasses/hearing aids, dentures, etc.) as instructed.
• Assist in preparing theresident for a physical examination.
• Measure and recordtemperatures, pulse, and respirations, as instructed.
• Answer resident callspromptly.
• Check each residentroutinely to ensure that his/her personal care needs are being met inaccordance with his/her wishes.
• Assist with the care ofthe dying resident as directed.
• Provide post-mortem careas instructed.

JOBREQUIREMENTS:

Education

• Mustpossess a high school diploma or GED.
• Mustbe a Certified Nursing Assistant in accordance with the laws of this state.
• Possesssome computer skills and understanding of documentation software programpreferred.
