Job summary

Prisma Health is seeking a Nursing Assistant / Patient Care Technician to support patient care on the Oconee Medical Campus under the Surgical Specialty department. You will assist with daily living activities, monitor patients, and document observations as delegated by the RN.

The role emphasizes safe patient handling, adherence to confidentiality, and providing a clean patient environment during night shifts at Oconee Memorial Hospital.

Qualifications

• Completion of a nursing assistant or patient care tech program.
• No experience is required.
• In lieu of school verification, CNA certification accepted at time of hire.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with activities of daily living and mobility.
• Turn and reposition patients; assist with walking and transfers.
• Transport patients as needed and support fall-prevention measures.
• Provide non-sterile dressings and basic perineal care as delegated by RN.
• Collect vital signs and basic specimens; document observations.
• Communicate patient status to RN and update medical records.
• Respond to call lights and assist with phone inquiries and errands.
• Support comfort and non-pharmacological pain relief measures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Summary

Assists in providing patient care based on the individualized plan of care for a patient. As delegated, performs basic nursing activities. Conducts data collection, monitors and documents patient status. Ensures confidentiality of all patient information. Utilizes safe patient handling at all times. Informs RN of activities performed observations of patients and changes in patient status. Provides a neat and clean patient environment.

Essential Functions

• Assists patients with activities of daily living. Turns and repositions patients alone or with assistance. May transport patients and assist with walking. Assists with fall prevention interventions and patient restraints as delegated.
• Provides patient care as delegated by the RN including, but not limited to, non-sterile soaks, application of non-sterile simple dressings, perineal care.
• Performs data collection including vital signs, fluid intake and outtake and basic and sterile specimen collection. Properly documents and maintains data on medical record and informs RN of activities performed, observations of patients and changes in patient status.
• Runs errands, answers telephone, answers and responds to call lights.
• Performs point of care testing as trained and delegated by RN. Reports lab values to RN.
• Provides and documents comfort and non-pharmacological pain management measures.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Supervisory/Management Responsibilities

• This is a non-management job that will report to a supervisor, manager, director, or executive.

Minimum Requirements

• Education - Completion of a nursing assistant or patient care tech program.
• Experience - No experience required.

In Lieu Of

• In lieu of school verification of a nursing assistant training course, will accept current or former state CN A certification as proof of completed state required training at time of hire.
