Job summary

Dignity Health Mercy Medical Center in Merced, California is seeking a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) to support patient comfort, safety and recovery under the direction of an RN. You will provide basic care, assist with transport, and contribute to each patient’s plan of care as a key member of the interdisciplinary team.

Required: CA CNA licensure on hire and Basic Life Support (CPR). AHA RQI competency is required post-hire for compliance.

As a Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA), you will be a cornerstone of patient care, directly contributing to comfort, safety, and recovery by providing essential support under RN direction.

• Uphold patient rights and cultural dignity by respecting diverse belief systems and utilizing professional translation services to ensure clear communication and strict adherence to privacy policies.
• Perform comprehensive patient assessments and care planning by recognizing age-appropriate needs, identifying high-risk conditions like falls or skin breakdown, and reporting findings to the nurse in a timely manner.
• Implement and evaluate the delivery of patient care by completing scheduled rounds, maintaining accurate documentation, answering call lights promptly, and assisting the healthcare team with bedside procedures and protocols.
• Support patient and family education by informing them of visitation policies and daily routines while reporting any learning barriers or language preferences to the nursing staff to improve outcomes.
• Foster effective teamwork and technical competency by maintaining professional collaboration, adhering to the chain of command, participating in improvement strategies, and demonstrating proficiency in all required clinical equipment and procedures.

Preferred

• Minimum of six months experience inacute care or skilled facility.

Please be advised that this location requires quarterly American Heart Association (AHA) Resuscitation Quality Improvement (RQI) competency certification post-hire. This ongoing competency is required through resources internal to the facility; outside RQI competency resources are not acceptable for CommonSpirit Health compliance requirements.
