Job summary

ECS Limited is seeking a CMT Project Professional I to join our Houston field services team. You will manage tests from proposal through completion, coordinate field staff, and maintain client relations while delivering high-quality reporting and documentation.

The role emphasizes budget oversight, proposal preparation, and collaboration with multi-discipline teams to ensure successful project delivery on low-complexity work. Houston-based position with growth opportunities.

Qualifications

  • 6 years of experience in construction materials testing or equivalent
  • Bachelor's degree is preferred; HS diploma or GED required
  • Strong communication and project management skills
  • Knowledge of ASTM standards and testing principles
  • Ability to manage priorities and client relationships

Responsibilities

  • Manage construction materials testing projects from proposal through completion for low-complexity work
  • Review daily field reports and resolve technical and administrative issues
  • Manage budgets, invoices, pay applications, and collections
  • Prepare proposals and change orders
  • Support testing of soils, foundations, reinforced and post-tensioned concrete, masonry, structural steel, fireproofing, and asphalt
  • Perform soil classification and assign appropriate laboratory testing
  • Coordinate field staff and provide training and oversight on assigned projects
  • Communicate with clients regarding project status, deliverables, and follow-up actions
  • Host or participate in project meetings with clients
  • Mentor junior staff and technicians and support team development
  • Ensure accurate and timely project documentation and reporting
  • Perform other project management and technical duties as assigned

Responsibilities

ECS Limited is offering a unique opportunity for a talented Construction Materials Testing (CMT) Project Professional I to join our Houston field services team and advance in a dynamic work environment. The Construction Materials Testing (CMT) Project Professional I manages and executes construction materials testing projects, including coordination, reporting, budgeting, and client communication activities. This role is responsible for delivering project work from proposal through completion on low-complexity projects while supporting client relationships and business development efforts. The CMT Project Professional I develops independent project management capabilities while maintaining a positive customer service attitude and demonstrating ECS Core Values.

Responsibilities

  • Manages project budgets, invoices, pay applications, and collections

Qualifications
Required Qualifications
  • 6 years of experience in construction materials testing (field or lab), special inspections, or an equivalent combination of advanced education and experience (i.e., 4-year degree + 2 years of experience or Associate degree + 4 years of experience)
  • High school diploma or GED required
    • Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Earth Sciences, Engineering Technology, or related field is preferred
  • Maintain certifications as necessary for the work performed or managed
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Strong project management and organizational skills
  • Good knowledge of construction materials testing principles and applications
  • Working knowledge of construction materials testing and ASTM standards
  • Ability to interpret field and laboratory testing results
  • Ability to manage priorities, schedules, and deadlines
  • Developing client relationship and business development skills
  • Basic knowledge of construction materials testing software
  • Sound judgment and decision-making abilities (developing)
  • If driving for or on behalf of any ECS subsidiary, a valid driver's license is required
