Job summary

NOVA Engineering & Environmental is seeking a full-time CMT Engineering Field Technician in the Orlando, FL metropolitan area. The role involves field testing and inspections of soil, concrete, asphalt, aggregate, and masonry materials in accordance with ASTM, AASHTO, and DOT specs, plus reviewing blueprints for field observations.

Ideal candidates have 2+ years of testing/inspection experience, able to lift up to 50 lbs, and willing to travel for short assignments.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in construction testing/inspections of soil, concrete, masonry, and/or asphalt materials.
  • Ability to routinely lift 40–50 lbs. (field/laboratory samples and equipment) is required.
  • Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Willingness to travel out-of-town for short duration assignments.

Responsibilities

  • Field testing and inspections of soil, concrete, asphalt, aggregate, and masonry materials for compliance with ASTM/AASHTO/DOT specs.
  • Review of blueprints in preparation of field observations on construction sites.
  • Documentation of field activities, observations, and testing results and conformance with project plans.
  • Daily use of Metafield for recording testing results.
  • Communication of field testing results with staff, general contractors, and clients.

Job description

NOVA Engineering & Environmental is seeking a full-time CMT Engineering Field Technician in the Orlando, FL metropolitan statistical area (MSA).

The individual will be responsible for the following:

  • Field testing and inspections of soil, concrete, asphalt, aggregate, and masonry mortar/grout for compliance with ASTM, AASHTO, DOT, and/or project specifications;
  • Review of blueprints in preparation of field observations on construction sites;
  • Documentation of field activities, observations, and testing results on construction projects, and their conformance with (or deviation from) project plans and specifications;
  • Daily use of Metafield for recording of testing results;
  • Communication of field testing results with Construction Services staff, general contractors, and clients;

Preferred Certifications:
  • FDOT CTQP Asphalt Paving I
  • FDOT CTQP Earthwork I
  • ACI Concrete Field Testing Level I
  • ICC Soils and Reinforced Concrete
