Job summary

UnitedHealthcare is seeking a Chief Medical Officer for the New Mexico Community Plan. You will lead clinical strategy, quality initiatives, and population health programs for New Mexico’s Medicaid beneficiaries, reporting to top executives and coordinating with ECS and state partners.

This senior leadership role supports a population health model, quality accreditation, and innovative care delivery while enabling remote work from anywhere in the United States.

Qualifications

  • Active and unrestricted New Mexico Medical License (MD/DO).
  • Board Certification in an ABMS/AOBMS specialty relevant to primary care or internal medicine.
  • Current DEA licensure and prescriptive authority in the state where applicable.

Responsibilities

  • Quality medical outcomes and affordability leadership in the local market and collaboration with ECS operations and national healthcare economics teams.
  • Support HEDIS and STARs data collection, CAHPS improvement, and accreditation activities.
  • Engage with state regulators, providers, hospitals, and professional societies to ensure compliant clinical programs and procedures.
  • Lead growth of PCCM/Accountable Care Community models and coordinate with regional teams to implement state contracts and value-based programs.
