Principal Consultant, CMMC Enterprise Architect

Job Summary:

A Principal Consultant is an individual who operates independently without direct supervision who is responsible for leading the delivery of an engagement with the sole intent of providing immense value for customers. To be successful in this role, a Principal Consultant will be expected to not only maintain a mastery in a capability aligned with service practices, but also developing pathways towards future opportunities they would like to explore. Additionally, they will be expected not only to execute all tasks provided in a statement of work, but also be expected to lead a team of Associate, Level I, Level II, and Senior Consultants in their day-to-day operations and career development. This individual will be the most senior individual on a project and will be expected to assist Associate, Level I, Level II, and senior consultants with tasking. Excellent communication skills along with sufficient leadership skills are essential for this role, as these individuals will interact with clients and engineers regularly in a leadership capacity.

  • Maintain a master’s understanding of enterprise architecture under the US Department of Defense Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) requirements.
  • Have an advanced understanding of major technologies that will surround the chief technology in their environment.
  • Lead a team of consultants in developing workflows focused on tackling complex issues in an effort to solve problems efficiently. When necessary, provide mentorships for Associate, Level I, and Level II Consultants who may require it.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Engagement Delivery
  • Execute all tasks outlined in the scope of work and follow standard operating procedures with no direct oversight.
  • Lead discussions with clients to analyze and understand their needs and objectives.
  • Aid Associate, Level I, and Level II Consultants on sophisticated tasking.
  • Lead technical discussions with the client to understand their engineering requirements.
  • Lead the technical support strategy for clients during and after project implementation.
  • Serve as the escalation level for complex issues as necessary.
  • Document project progress, issues, and resolutions in a concise and timely manner.
  • Consistently self-review work to identify and improve approaches for producing high-quality work.
  • Review work of Associate, Level I, and Level II Consultants to assist in their approach for producing high-quality work.
  • Engagement Management
  • Monitor and approve timecards and expense reports for team members.
  • Serve as a level of mentorship for Associate, Level I, and Level II Consultants.
  • Perform annual performance reviews for each team member, as well as quarterly feedback sessions.
  • Report any issues with the team to Principal leadership, as well as any kudos or positive feedback.
  • Sales and Client Engagement
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients to ensure satisfaction.
  • Adhere to availability standards for responding to client inquiries.
  • Lead the communication of technical concepts effectively to clients.
  • Identify and communicate cross-sell and up-sell opportunities with the account team across services.
  • Talent Development
  • Demonstrate proactive engagement in obtaining and maintaining certifications and cultivating technical proficiency in accordance with industry standards.
  • Provide input to leadership on needed training and development.
  • Proactively engage with mentors for assistance and guidance as necessary.
  • Provide training opportunities to team members in various growth areas.
  • Strategy, Brand Leadership, and Operations
  • Contribute to thought leadership exercises about services portfolio, to include but not limited to: blog posts, social media engagement, workshops, and panels.
  • Oversee the creation of new Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Provide Principal leadership with areas of opportunity to expand the services portfolio.

Education and Skills Requirements:

  • Experience operating in classified environments preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related area or at least 8 years of related work experience.
  • Expert understanding of cybersecurity, and infrastructure concepts.
  • Experience providing consulting within US federal and DoD cybersecurity such as Risk Management Framework, FedRAMP, and/or Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC)
  • Expertise in Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) concepts and practices.
  • Understanding of governance and compliance, specifically with FAR, DFARs, CUI and CMMC.
  • Strong understanding of governance and compliance, specifically with FAR, DFARs, CUI and CMMC.
  • Experience providing consulting within US federal and DoD cybersecurity such as Risk Management Framework (RMF), FedRAMP, and/or Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC)
  • Experience as an Enterprise Architect is required.
  • Experience in leadership concepts and ideas.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team.
  • Experience leading an engineering team, preferably having handled tasking, resolving personnel issues, and providing actionable feedback.
  • Ability to clearly communicate complex messages to a variety of audiences.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Willingness to travel to meet client needs.
