Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent related experience.
  • 5+ years with automated measuring equipment, CMM and Vision Systems preferred.
  • Experience with GD&T interpretation and blueprint reading.
  • Knowledge of SPC data collection and related software is a plus.
  • Certification such as CQT/CQI/CQE is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Create CMM programs for inspected parts and features, including mini programs and critical dimensions.
  • Collaborate with engineering and operations to define key features to inspect.
  • Develop optimized fixturing using 3D printing where possible.
  • Evaluate automation, quick-change fixturing, and multiple parts per fixture setups.

Job Description

This role will be responsible for supporting operations at the corporate level by providing automated inspection programs. The CMM Programmer will create and support existing programming scripts to ensure the parameters for the project are followed. This position is responsible for creating the inspection road map prior to manufacturing to enable efficient flow through the Inspection room. This position will work cross-functionally with engineering, programing, and operations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES:

  • Create CMM programs for all parts and features that can be inspected including mini programs and critical dimensions.
  • Technology partner and champion for CMM, Laser, White Light, Blue Light, and CT Scanning, as well as other inspection methods; elevating our capabilities and best practices with best available technology.
  • Partner with CNC Programing and Engineers to identify the right critical key features to inspect, understanding tool paths, and tools used to machine what fixtures.
  • Create optimized fixturing utilizing additive manufacturing (3D printing).
  • Evaluate automation, quick change fixturing, and multiple parts per fixture setups.
  • Create programs for complementary equipment.
  • Provide recommendations on capital inspection equipment including justifications.
  • Modify and alter legacy inspection programs.
  • Troubleshoot dimensional discrepancies on CMM reports.
  • Optimize CMM efficiencies including cycle, strategy and part holding techniques.
  • Understand time required for inspection processes, applying principles to sample size, lot size runs, estimates of programming times, working to ensure quality conformance and operational velocity.
  • Help build out inspection routing steps to incorporate into operations scheduling & planning process.
  • Submit customer required preapprovals.
  • All other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent years of related experience required.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE: General knowledge of machining and basic inspection fundamentals, fixture design, and machine center capabilities. Windows based computer knowledge. Must have excellent blueprint and GD&T interpretation skills.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: 5+ years of automated measuring equipment experiences with preference on CMM and Vision Systems. Zeiss Calypso software experience a plus. Hard gauging experience preferred. Experience with SPC automated collection software WinSPC, Datapage+ or QDAS a plus. CQT or CQI certification a plus and CQE preferred.

SKILLS ABILITIES: Ability to learn JobBoss manufacturing software.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

PHYSICAL STRENGTH: Lift up to 40 pounds.

LANGUAGE ABILITY: Ability to understand and follow instructions in English.
