Job summary

Freeform is seeking a detail-oriented CMM Inspector/Programmer to join our quality team in Hawthorne, CA. You will operate a Zeiss Contura CMM using Calypso, execute inspection programs, and communicate results to engineering and production.

This hands-on role involves maintaining inspection tools, documenting results, and improving workflows. Prior 5+ years CMM operating and 1+ year programming preferred; metal 3D-printed parts experience not required.

Responsibilities

CMM PROGRAMMER (2ND SHIFT)

We are looking for a detail-oriented CMM Inspector/Programmer to join our quality team and take ownership of inspecting complex metal 3D printed parts. In this hands-on role, you’ll operate our Zeiss Contura CMM using existing Calypso programs, perform part inspections, and clearly communicate results to the engineering and production teams. You’ll also assist in maintaining inspection tools, documenting results, and continuously improving quality workflows. Over time, you’ll have opportunities to learn more advanced metrology tools and inspection methods in our growing lab. Responsibilities:

• Operate Zeiss Contura CMM machine usingCalypso for the inspection of complex metal 3D printed parts and geometries.
• Create and execute inspection programs, and ensure parts are measured accurately and consistently.
• Interpret GD&T requirements as applied to engineering drawings and notes, identifying and addressing dimension interpretation issues.
• Choose and utilize appropriate gauges and tools to inspect feature tolerances, ensuring accuracy and adherence to quality standards.
• Collaborate with engineers and quality leads to communicate inspection results and flag potential part or process issues.
• Assist in maintaining and organizing inspection programs, toolkits, and inspection records.
• Support upkeep of CMM equipment and contribute to continuous improvement in inspection workflows.

Basic Qualifications:

• 5+ years of CMM operating experience
• 1+ years of CMM programming experience
• Experience interpreting engineering drawings and understanding GD&T principles

Nice to Have:

• Experience with Zeiss Contura and Calypso
• Experience with CMM inspection of metal 3D printed parts
• Ability to utilize power tools, hand tools, cranes, forklifts, and other heavy equipment
• Ability to lift and/or move up to 30lbs unassisted
• Must be available and willing to work overtime when needed

• Compensation
  • As a growing company, the salary range is intentionally wide as we determine the most appropriate package for each individual taking into consideration years of experience, educational background, and unique skills and abilities as demonstrated throughout the interview process. Our intent is to offer a salary that is commensurate for the company’s current stage of development and allows the employee to grow and develop within a role.
  • In addition to the significant stock option package, the estimated pay range for this role is $30-$45/hour, depending on the level of seniority demonstrated in the interview process.
  • This role will include a shift differential for all hours worked on 2nd shift (~1pm - 9pm).
