Job summary

Heico seeks a CMM Programmer to develop PC-DMIS programs from SolidWorks models and drawings, document First Article Inspections per AS9102, and conduct mechanical and visual inspections in a fast-paced aerospace setting.

Candidate should have GD&T expertise, blueprint reading skills, and experience with metrology tools; Lean manufacturing familiarity is a plus, with a strong safety mindset and teamwork emphasis.

Qualifications

  • HS diploma or GED required
  • PC-DMIS certification preferred
  • Strong understanding of GD&T
  • Ability to interpret drawings and specifications
  • Proficiency with measuring instruments and basic machining concepts
  • Familiarity with AS9103 and LC/Lean practices

Responsibilities

  • Create CMM programs with PC-DMIS from SolidWorks models and drawings
  • Document measurements for First Article Inspections (AS9102)
  • Perform mechanical, visual and final inspections
  • Support continuous improvement and metrology projects
  • Assist in root cause investigations and corrective actions

Job description

The CMM Programmer is responsible for performing inspections and supporting data analysis. Effectively documents and communicates results in a timely fashion to maintain uninterrupted movement within the Manufacturing process. Individual shall also work closely with Quality Assurance, CNC Programmers, Design Engineering, MFG Production & Braze/Special Process to ensure that all inspections are thoroughly completed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Strive towards a culture of proactive safety.
  • Create CMM programs with PC-DMIS software (From Solidworks models, drawings & applicable documents)
  • Document measurements required for First Article Inspections / AS9102
  • Mechanical, Visual & Final Inspections
  • Recommend new metrology based technologies towards improving our overall capabilities
  • Complete quality related and continuous improvement project work
  • Participate in investigations of root cause and corrective actions / implement preventative actions
  • Other duties as assigned.
EXPERIENCE:
  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
  • Level 1, 2 and/or 3 PC-DMIS Certification - Preferred
  • Strong understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GDT)
  • Interpret Technical Drawing and Specifications towards Programming
  • Spatial Awareness of basic machining practices & CMM Setups
  • Understanding of Statistical Process Controls / AS9103
  • Understanding of Lean Manufacturing - Preferred
  • Ability to navigate Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, etc)

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the work shift.
  • Ability to frequently use hands and fingers to operate machine controls, tools, and measuring instruments.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and components weighing up to 40 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, and reach as required to load, unload, and inspect parts and equipment.
  • Ability to perform repetitive motions involving the hands, wrists, and arms.
  • Ability to visually inspect parts, interpret and read blueprints, technical drawings, work instructions, and use gauges, and measuring devices.
  • Ability to distinguish colors, dimensions, and surface defects when performing quality inspections.
  • Ability to hear and communicate effectively in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to safely operate equipment in a fast-paced production setting while wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, hearing protection, safety shoes, and other equipment as required.
  • Ability to work in an environment with exposure to machine noise, metal chips, cutting fluids, lubricants, and varying temperatures.
  • Ability to maintain regular attendance and work scheduled shifts, including overtime as required.
  • Manufacturing environment with exposure to moving mechanical equipment.
  • Frequent interaction with machine tools, raw materials, and finished products.
  • Compliance with all company safety policies, housekeeping requirements, and Foreign Object Debris (FOD) prevention practices.
  • Required use of appropriate PPE and adherence to all safety procedures.
