Job summary

Applied Composites is seeking a CMM Operator to inspect components using diverse metrology tools and software. You will identify quality issues in design or process and prepare documentation for acceptance and rejection based on specifications.

The role requires 2–3 years of relevant experience, a high school diploma or equivalent, and proficiency with GD&T and various metrology equipment. Training on first shift is provided before transitioning to the second shift.

Qualifications

  • Must follow established QA procedures with minimal supervision.
  • Strong attention to detail and systematic QA approach.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings and GD&T symbols.
  • Experience using metrology equipment and software.
  • Capable of interpreting instructions and working with365 datasheets and sketches.

Responsibilities

  • Perform Operator Level inspections with CMM equipment of various types.
  • Conduct quality control inspections on products and components at various production stages.
  • Analyze process data to confirm compliance or identify deviations.
  • Prepare documentation for reporting acceptance or rejection of items.
  • Identify design or process inefficiencies and report quality concerns.
  • Maintain and calibrate metrology equipment; ensure cleanliness.
  • Generate inspection reports per customer specifications (First Article, etc.).
  • Assist with internal audits and corrective action follow-ups.

Applied Composites (AC) – CMM Operator

Applied Composites (AC) is seeking a CMM Operator who will inspect a range of components, parts and/or products for the area assigned as prescribed by all applicable specifications and quality assurance instructions. The operator will identify moderately difficult quality issues in design, process or other inefficiencies to meet quality requirements.

Job Accountabilities
  • Performs Operator Level inspections with CMM equipment of various types.
  • Conducts examinations and quality control inspections on products, materials and components at various stages of the production process to ensure compliance with established quality and reliability standards.
  • Participates in analysis statistical data from processes to either confirm compliance with established standards or identify deviations from standards.
  • Prepares and completes all necessary documentation for reporting acceptance/rejection of inspected and/or tested items.
  • Identifies design, process or other inefficiencies and reports quality concerns and issues.
  • Performs routine quality inspections on engineering designs, assemblies, piece parts, final assemblies and tooling.
  • Conducts internal audits and corrective action follow‑ups.
  • Provides range of knowledge in metrology solutions including but not limited to laser tracker/PCMM inspections, machine alignments, reverse engineering, tool building and assembly, software and hardware training.
  • Generates inspection reports to customer specifications, including drawing‑based inspection reports, first‑article inspection reports, model‑based definition inspection reports and dimensional inspection reports.
  • Maintains equipment by performing field calibrations and verifying manufacturer maximum performance errors.
  • Maintains equipment cleanliness using manufacturer specifications.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.
  • Regular, consistent and punctual attendance is required. May need to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) and additional hours as necessary.
Job Specifications
Education

Requires a High School Diploma/GED or combination of relevant education and work experience may be substituted to meet educational requirements only.

Years’ Experience

2 – 3 years of relevant experience.

Skills
  • Ability to follow established job instructions and procedures with minimal supervision.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to apply a systematic QA approach while using existing procedures to solve a range of technical issues.
  • Skilled at measuring and using test equipment as prescribed by job assignment.
  • Capable of following instructions and applying processes and procedures to standard routine tasks.
  • Must be able to interpret and follow written and verbal instructions, including engineering drawings, charts, diagrams, and sketches.
  • Must have general knowledge of GD&T.
  • Solid experience using Laser Trackers (Leica, Faro and API), PCMM's (Romer and Faro arms), 3D Laser scanners and Total Stations.
  • Solid knowledge of Computer Aided Measuring software (Verisurf, Polyworks, Spatial Analyzer, Buildit etc.).
  • Experience with Microsoft products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook).
  • Solid knowledge in blueprint reading and GD&T.
  • Solid knowledge of 3D CAD.
  • Knowledge in aerospace tooling, composites manufacturing and assembly.

2nd Shift: Monday – Friday, 3:45 PM – 12:15 AM.
Must be able to train on 1st shift (7:30 AM – 4:00 PM, Monday – Friday) for at least 90 days.
