Job summary

Abrasive Form LLC is seeking a CMM Operator to support precision aerospace and IGT machining. You will create, operate and troubleshoot PC-DMIS CMM programs, inspect parts, and collaborate with the CMM Programmer and Quality Engineer to resolve issues.

This role requires at least 3 years of CMM experience, ability to read complex blueprints with GD&T, and familiarity with inspection tools. The job is on-site in Bloomingdale, IL, with 5S standards, safety and a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience using a CMM, PC-DMIS preferred.
  • 3 years of manufacturing experience in tight tolerance production.
  • Strong ability to interpret engineering drawings/ blueprints / GD&T specifications.
  • Familiar with inspection techniques and bench gage equipment such as micrometers, dial indicators, drop gages, optical comparators, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Create, operate, troubleshoot & modify CMM programs in PC-DMIS.
  • Work with the CMM Programmer on new product development and with Quality Engineer on quality issues.
  • Inspect parts & improve production throughput.
  • Trouble shoot old programs to improve CMM run time.
  • Read and interpret complex blueprints for GD&T specifications.
  • Keep work area clean, organized, and free from clutter.

Job Title: CMM OperatorReports to: CMM Programmer FLSA Status: Non- ExemptSummary:Abrasive Form is a world leader in high precision Aerospace and Industrial Gas Turbine (IGT) machining. We machine turbine blades and vanes for many of the largest gas turbine manufacturers, aerospace and power industries around the world. We use high precision CNC milling, electrical discharge machining (EDM), and 3 and 5-axis creep feed and CBN grinding.The CMM Operator is responsible for operating & troubleshooting CMM Programs. A successful candidate has the ability to program CMM, preferably using PC-DMIS language.RequirementsThe requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and/or ability required.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesCreate, Operate, trouble-shoot & modify CMM programs, desired in PC-DMIS.Work with CMM Programmer on new product development and with Quality Engineer on any quality issues.Inspect parts & improve production throughput.Trouble shoot old programs to improve CMM run time.Measure production parts on the CMM as needed.Basic understanding of AS9100 Quality Management systems & working with frozen planning.Participate in root cause identification & implementation of corrective action.Keep work area clean, organized, and free from clutter.Other duties as assigned.Qualifications and Education RequiredHigh school diploma or equivalent.Minimum of 3 years of experience using a CMM. PC-DMIS is preferred.3-years of manufacturing experience in tight tolerance production.Strong ability to interpret Engineering drawings/ blueprints / GD&T specifications required.Ability to work quickly and accurately in a supportive manufacturing role.Familiar with inspection techniques and bench gage equipment such as micrometers, dial indicators, drop gages, optical comparators, etc.Ability to recognize and identify discrepancies in measuring equipment, parts, or inspection equipment.Must be able to read and interpret complex blueprints for custom gages.Must be able to work flexible shifts as business need dictates.Preferred Qualifications5S standards experience preferred.Identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.Prior experience working in aerospace manufacturing industry.Physical DemandsTalking, hearing, and using hands to operate calibration equipment and tools. Must be able to lift parts at least 25lbs frequently and on occasion up to 50lbs at or above waist level. The ability to use a computer is required. Must be able to work on your feet in a manufacturing environment. Physical ability to do work requiring frequent lifting, twisting, standing, stooping, and bending.Working EnvironmentUsual manufacturing environment with temperature fluctuations, noise from and interactions with equipment, and safety standards of PPE and practices required.The job description listed should not be construed to contain every function/responsibility that may be required to be performed by an associate in this job.
