Job summary

Self Regional Healthcare in Greenwood, SC seeks a Medical Assistant to perform clinical and administrative tasks, complete initial patient assessments, document in charts, and support providers within their scope of competence.

The role requires completing an accredited medical assisting program or equivalent certification, with a commitment to obtaining or maintaining certification within 3 months of hire.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Graduate of a medical assisting education program accredited by ARC-PA, ABHES, or by any accrediting agency recognized by the US Department of Education.
• Career and Technical Education Health Sciences Program approved by South Carolina Department of Education.
• Military medical assisting program.
• DOL-approved Registered Apprenticeship for medical assisting.
• Training program delivered by a health care employer aligned to a nationally accredited certification exam (must be completed within 90 day probationary period).

Job description

Full Time

Performs work in the clinical and administrative areas of the practice as needed. Completes initial patient clinical assessment, documenting in the patient chart according to the description below. Assists provider by working within their scope of competence to fill in medications, place orders, complete in-basket tasks, return patient phone calls and other duties assigned.

Job Qualifications

• High School Graduate or GED required and successful completion of at least one of the following:
  • Must be a graduate of a medical assisting education program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs, the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools, or by any accrediting agency recognized by the United States Department of Education.
  • A Career and Technical Education Health Sciences Program approved by the South Carolina Department of Education
  • A medical assisting program provided by a branch of the United States military
  • A medical assisting United States Department of Labor-approved Registered Apprenticeship program
  • A training program that is delivered, in whole or in part, by a health care employer that aligns to a nationally accredited certification exam. (Must be completed within 90 day probationary period)

Required Certifications/Licenses

• Post high school/medical studies with certifications as Medical Assistant (AAMA), or Registered Medical Assistant (AMT), Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA), National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMMA) required
• Must obtain certification within 3 months of hire required
• Must hold and maintain active certification or registry in medical assisting required
