Job summary

Fort HealthCare is seeking a CMA or LPN to join our Internal Medicine Clinic team in Fort Atkinson, WI. This full-time, on-site position supports patient care under the physician or mid-level provider, with day shifts and two-week pay periods of 80 hours.

Responsibilities include patient rooming, medication administration, basic lab testing, and coordinating referrals and registrations. A strong focus on safety, quality, and compassionate care helps Fort HealthCare serve the local community.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • CMA certification or completion of CMA program; RMA or CMA certification preferred.
  • Ability to read, write, speak English; Spanish proficiency desired.
  • BLS Certification required.

Responsibilities

  • Rooms patients and reviews health history, collects data, and assists with procedures as appropriate.
  • Administers medications as directed and understands dosages, side effects and administration routes.
  • Performs CLIA-lab tests, venipuncture, and handles specimen preparation and ABN forms when applicable.
  • Communicates orders to outside sources and assists with various medical forms.
  • Screens calls, gathers data, and directs care under provider guidance.
  • Assists with scheduling, referrals, testing, and prior authorizations as needed.
  • Willing to support nursing needs in other clinics or departments.

This position provides care & support to patients under the direction of the physician or mid-level provider.

Responsibilities of this position include:

  • Rooms patients and reviews health history, addresses preventative maintenance issues and is knowledgeable of age specific growth and development as related to the neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patient as appropriate. Accurately collects and records data as appropriate at the patient contact, meeting the requirements of Rural Health Clinics (as applicable) and The Joint Commission. Assists the provider with medical procedures and exams following Universal Protocol relating to the capabilities and age specific criteria of a neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients, utilizing protective devices as needed to maintain integrity of medical treatment if necessary.
  • Administers medications as directed/ordered by the provider. Demonstrates and understands administration techniques. Recognizes the implications of dosages, interactions, side effects, adverse effects, and routes of administration of drugs as they apply to individual patients. Complies with medication refill policies and procedures.
  • Performs laboratory testing covered by CLIA, performs venipuncture, prepares specimens for transport, and complies with all quality measures. Ensures all nurse rendered services are captured and verifies completion of ABN form as appropriate. Possesses knowledge of tests and procedures as they relate to specific specialties. Recognizes significant values and works with the provider to notify patients of results and follow up activities in a timely manner as defined by clinic practice/policy. Will be accountable in complying with Universal Protocol policies. Responsible for executing scheduled cleaning/maintenance of equipment and has knowledge of medical equipment repair processes. Able to handle decontamination and sterilization requirements of all clinic equipment.
  • Communicates and/or completes provider orders to outside sources (i.e. pharmacy, other clinics, hospitals, nursing homes, etc.). Also assists in the completion of various medical forms (i.e. RTW, school forms, DOT, workers compensation, consent forms, FMLA).
  • Screens phone calls, collects all pertinent data, and communicates this information to the provider. Will direct or implement appropriate care utilizing provider direction or preferences.
  • Assists with appointment scheduling of office visits/referrals/diagnostic testing/therapies/surgeries. Is also responsible for working with the preauthorization department or insurance companies to initiate referrals and to obtain approvals, pre-certifications and prior authorization for medical care and treatment. Assists in completion of registration and depart process as necessary.
  • Willingness to support nursing needs in other clinics or departments as needed.
