Job summary

UnityPoint Health is seeking a compassionate CMA or LPN to join the Colorectal Surgery team at Waukee Med Park in Waukee, IA. This full-time position supports exams, treatments, and patient education within a busy clinic setting.

Responsibilities include rooming patients, documenting histories and vitals, and assisting with procedures under licensure scope. The role emphasizes patient care, education, and teamwork in a welcoming environment.

Qualifications

• Active/Unencumbered LPN license in state of practice or compact license.
• Graduate of accredited Medical Assistant program (certificate, diploma, or associate’s degree).
• Certified or Registered Medical Assistant through recognized national bodies.
• Prior experience in a clinical or outpatient setting preferred.
• Familiarity with EPIC is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist physicians during patient exams and procedures.
• Room patients, record histories, vital signs, and document in the EHR.
• Administer medications, immunizations, and treatments per licensure scope.
• Educate patients on health, medications, and follow-up care.
• Coordinate referrals and patient care follow-ups.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized clinical environment.

We are seeking a compassionate clinical professional to join our growing team at our new Waukee Med Park Facility! This position is open to Certified Medical Assistants (CMA) or Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN). This clinical professional will provide support in patient care, assisting with exams, treatments, and patient education.

Qualifications

• Valid and current licensure/certification in one of the following:
  • Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) – Active/Unencumbered LPN license in state of practice or compact license including state of practice.
  • OR Graduate of an accredited program for Medical Assistants (Certificate, diploma, or Associate’s Degree) required.
  • Certified or Registered Medical Assistant through one of the following required:
  • National Healthcare Association
  • American Association of Medical Assistants
  • National Center for Competency Testing
  • National Certified Medical Assistant
  • National Association of Health Professionals
  • American Registry of Medical Assistants
  • American Allied Health
  • American Medical Technologists
  • Prior experience in a clinical or outpatient setting preferred
  • Familiarity with EPIC is a plus!
