Job summary

Cardinal Technology Systems, Corp is seeking a Cloud Solutions Architect to design, optimize, and deploy cloud architectures in support of government and commercial initiatives. The role emphasizes secure, scalable AWS solutions and on-prem to cloud migrations.

You will develop IaC templates, collaborate with DevOps on CI/CD, enforce security controls, and guide implementation teams through architecture reviews while maintaining documentation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field; equivalent experience.
• Active Secret clearance; TS/SCI preferred.
• 5+ years designing cloud architectures, preferably on AWS.
• 8+ years of directly relevant experience.
• Strong expertise in AWS services (EC2, S3, VPC, IAM, Lambda, CloudFormation).
• Infrastructure-as-code experience with Terraform and CloudFormation.
• Deep cloud security knowledge and compliance requirements.
• Experience with automation and scripting (Python, Bash, PowerShell).

Responsibilities

• Lead migration of on-prem capabilities into the AWS cloud.
• Customize capabilities to align with engagement scope and parameters.

• Create and maintain infrastructure-as-code templates and documentation.
• Ensure architecture supports rapid reconfiguration for dynamic mission needs.
• Implement security controls including encryption and hardened configurations.
• Collaborate with DevOps to enhance CI/CD pipelines.
• Evaluate and recommend new cloud services to improve operations.
• Conduct architecture reviews and provide technical guidance to teams.
• Support troubleshooting of complex architectural issues during operations.

Summary

• Active Secret clearance; TS/SCI preferred.
• Design, optimize, and enhance cloud-based architectures to support ESS operational requirements.
• Creating scalable, secure, and high-performance solutions that enable rapid deployment and customization of engagement infrastructure across diverse mission scenarios.
• Lead planning and implementation for migration of on-prem capabilities into the AWS cloud.
• Customize capabilities to align with engagement scope, technical, and operational parameters.
• Develop automation frameworks to streamline provisioning and deployment processes.
• Create and maintain infrastructure-as-code templates and documentation.
• Ensure architecture supports rapid reconfiguration for dynamic mission needs.
• Implement security controls including encryption, namespace obfuscation, and hardened configurations.
• Collaborate with DevOps engineers to enhance CI/CD pipelines.
• Evaluate and recommend new cloud services and technologies to improve operational capabilities.
• Conduct architecture reviews and provide technical guidance to implementation teams.
• Support troubleshooting of complex architectural issues during active operations.

Requirements

• Active Secret clearance; TS/SCI preferred.
• U.S. Citizenship.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• Must be able to obtain DHS Suitability.
• 5+ years of experience designing cloud architectures, preferably on AWS.
• 8+ years of directly relevant experience.
• Strong expertise in AWS services including EC2, S3, VPC, IAM, Lambda, and CloudFormation.
• Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform, CloudFormation, etc.).
• Deep understanding of cloud security best practices and compliance requirements.
• Proven ability to design scalable, resilient, and cost-effective solutions.
• Strong documentation and technical communication skills.
• Experience with automation and scripting (Python, Bash, PowerShell).

Preferences

• Desired Certifications: AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Professional.
• Experience designing solutions for cybersecurity or incident response operations.
• Knowledge of multi-cloud or hybrid cloud architectures.
• Experience with Splunk.
• Experience migrating on-prem legacy systems to a cloud environment.
• Experience with Azure and Entra.
• Experience with container orchestration (Kubernetes, ECS).
• Familiarity with federal compliance frameworks (FedRAMP, NIST).
• Background in system administration or DevOps.
