Job summary

Peraton in Laurel, MD seeks a software engineer with 5+ years of experience in development and system integration for cloud-based analytics. Candidates should have hands-on work with Java/C/C++, Unix/Linux, and OpenSource NoSQL ecosystems, plus expertise in Hadoop/HDFS, JSON/BSON, and RESTful services.

Active TS/SCI clearance with polygraph is required. Desired skills include LLM, RAG, AWS cloud architecture and automation, and data-analytic capabilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field highly desired or equivalent to 2 years of experience
• 5+ years directly related software development/engineering experience
• Must have or be willing to obtain one of the following Cloud Developer Certifications (AWS/CDK): AWS Certified Developer-Associate, AWS Certified Machine Learning-Associate, AWS Certified Machine Learning-Specialty, AWS DevOps Engineer Professional, CKAD
• Minimum 5 years in software development/engineering incl. requirements analysis, software development, installation, integration, evaluation, enhancement, maintenance, testing, and problem diagnosis/resolution
• Minimum 4 years developing software with high-level languages such as Java, C, C++
• Experience with OpenSource NoSQL products (HBase, Accumulo, BigTable)
• Experience with MapReduce and related technologies (Hadoop, Hive, Pig)
• Experience with Hadoop Distributed File System (HDFS)
• Experience with JSON and BSON serialization
• Experience developing Restful services
• At least 3 years developing software for UNIX/Linux (RedHat 3-5)
• Experience in requirements analysis and OO design
• Experience integrating and extending FOSS/COTS products
• At least 3 years of software integration and testing with test plans/scripts
• Technical writing skills with documentation for software development projects
• Two of the following desired characteristics: cloud deployment, big-data cloud scalability, automated analytics, ontology/data models, linguistics, social network analytics, data-driven analytics and rule-based analytics

Basic Qualifications:

• ABachelor's Degree in Computer Scienceor in a related technical field ishighly desired which will be considered equivalent to two (2) years of experience.

• Five (5)or more years ofdirectly relatedexperience in software development/engineering; including requirements analysis, software development, installation, integration, evaluation, enhancement, maintenance, testing, and problem diagnosis/resolution

• Must have, or be willing to obtain prior to start, one of the following Cloud Developer Certifications:

  • AWS Certified Developer-Associate
  • AWS Certified Machine Learning-Associate
  • AWS Certified Machine Learning-Specialty
  • AWS DevOps Engineer Professional
  • Certified Kubernetes Application Developer (CKAD)

• A minimum of five (5) years of experience in software development/engineering, including requirements analysis, software development, installation, integration, evaluation, enhancement, maintenance, testing, and problem diagnosis/resolution.

• A minimum of four(4) years of experience developing software with highlevel languages such as Java, C, C++

• Demonstratedability to work withOpenSource(NoSQL) products that support highly distributed, massively parallel computation needs such asHbase,Acumulo,Big Table, etc.

• Demonstratedwork experience with the Map Reduce programmingmodel and technologies such as Hadoop, Hive, Pig, etc.

• Demonstratedwork experience with the Hadoop Distributed File System (HDFS)

• At least three (3) years of experience developing software forUNIX/Linux (Redhatversions 3-5) operating systems.

• Experience deploying applications in a cloud environment.
• Understanding of Big-Data Cloud Scalability (Amazon, Google, Facebook)
• Experience designing and developing automated analytic software, techniques, and algorithms.
• Experience with taxonomy construction for analytic disciplines, knowledgeareasand skills.
• Experience developing anddeploying:data driven analytics; event driven analytics; sets of analytics orchestrated through rules engines.
• Experience with linguistics (grammar, morphology, concepts).
• Experience developing and deploying analytics that discover and exploit social networks.
• Experience documenting ontologies, data models, schemas, formats, data element dictionaries, software application programinterfacesand other technical specifications.
• Experience developing and deploying analytics within a heterogeneous schema environment.
