Position Overview
We are seeking a talented and driven Cloud Software Engineer III to support the development, enhancement, and maintenance of complex, mission-focused software systems. This role will contribute to applications involving high-performance analytics, advanced algorithm development, large-scale data processing, real-time computing, and enterprise business solutions.
The ideal candidate brings strong software engineering experience, a background in cloud and distributed computing technologies, and the ability to develop scalable solutions for large operational data environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide cloud software research, development, and engineering support across requirements analysis, software development, installation, integration, evaluation, enhancement, sustainment, testing, validation, and issue resolution.
- Design, implement, and test new capabilities for Apache Accumulo to support large-scale content and metadata repositories.
- Conduct Apache Accumulo training sessions, including hands-on configuration and programming exercises.
- Develop web-based user interfaces for searching and presenting operational data.
- Develop web services and REST-based APIs for content and metadata repositories.
- Design and implement algorithms that operate on large volumes of operational metadata.
- Apply advanced parallel programming techniques to analytics running against petabyte-scale datasets.
- Develop, test, and prepare mission-relevant analytics for deployment in secure content and metadata repositories.
Required Qualifications
- Active TS/SCI with Full Scope Polygraph.
- Ability and willingness to work onsite five days per week.
- Within the last 10 years, at least 7 years of combined programming experience using Java, C++, or Python.
- Within the last 7 years, at least 5 years of experience designing and developing applications in Windows or UNIX/Linux environments.
- Within the last 3 years, at least 1 year of experience with database technologies such as:
- Apache Accumulo
- MongoDB
- ScyllaDB
- Google Cloud Bigtable
- Amazon DynamoDB
- Azure Cosmos DB
- PostgreSQL
- or equivalent technologies
- Within the last 3 years, at least 1 year of experience with distributed batch or stream processing technologies such as:
- Ray
- Apache Spark
- Apache Flink
- Apache Beam
- Databricks
- cloud-native data processing services
- Within the last 3 years, at least 1 year of experience with distributed file or object storage systems such as:
- HDFS
- Amazon S3
- Azure Data Lake Storage
- Google Cloud Storage
- Within the last 3 years, at least 1 year of experience with requirements analysis and design for object-oriented systems.
- Within the last 2 years, at least 6 months of development experience using Kubernetes, AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline.
Education substitutions may include:
- Associate’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline plus 2 years of programming experience, or
- 5 years of programming experience in lieu of a bachelor’s degree.
Desired Skills
- Experience with Claude Sonnet 4.
- Ability to write code using dynamic prompts with the OpenAI Chat Completions API.
