Job description

Job Description Summary

The Coca-Cola Company is seeking a Director, Cloud Architect for Global Equipment Platforms (GEP). GEP supports connected equipment capabilities across Freestyle, dispensed equipment, coolers, digital racks, IoT-enabled assets, and future equipment ecosystems. As GEP continues to modernize and connect its equipment platforms, cloud architecture will be critical to enabling secure, scalable, reliable, and supportable technology capabilities across the global equipment ecosystem. The Director, Cloud Architect will define and guide the cloud architecture, modernization strategy, operational readiness, and technical roadmap for GEP platforms and supporting applications. This role establishes architecture patterns, technology standards, governance practices, and cloud foundations that enable scalable application delivery, platform integration, data movement, security, observability, and future digital and AI capabilities. This is a senior individual contributor architecture leadership role responsible for setting GEP cloud architecture direction and providing hands‑on technical leadership for strategic initiatives and complex issues. The role will partner closely with Product, Engineering, Platform, Unified IoT, Security, Operations, Data, Operating Units, Bottlers, vendors, and external delivery partners, while working within the broader enterprise architecture and technology framework.

Key Responsibilities
  • Define GEP Cloud Architecture and Strategy: Evaluate existing cloud architecture, applications, infrastructure, integration patterns, and operational capabilities across GEP; identify gaps and opportunities; and define target‑state architecture and modernization roadmaps aligned to enterprise standards and business priorities.
  • Lead architecture decisions across AWS, Azure, SaaS platforms, connected equipment services, APIs, data integration, and supporting enterprise technologies.
  • Define reusable architecture patterns and reference designs for application hosting, integration, networking, identity, security, data movement, observability, resilience, and deployment.
  • Partner with GEP Engineering, Platform, Unified IoT, Data, Security, and broader global architecture teams to ensure architecture standards are implementable, scalable, secure, cost‑conscious, and operationally sustainable.
  • Lead Platform Modernization and Technical Roadmaps: Define and maintain technology roadmaps for GEP cloud platforms and supporting applications, including modernization, migration, lifecycle management, technical debt reduction, and capability expansion.
  • Lead cloud migration and transformation initiatives, including evaluation of workload suitability, dependencies, sequencing, risk, operational readiness, and transition planning.
  • Balance strategic architecture direction with near‑term delivery needs, platform stability, security requirements, supportability, and business value.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend practical adoption paths based on measurable business and operational outcomes.
  • Provide Hands‑On Technical Leadership: Serve as a senior technical advisor and escalation point for complex cloud, application, infrastructure, integration, deployment, and connected‑equipment issues. Engage directly with architecture, design, configuration, logs, data flows, and technical diagnostics as needed to clarify trade‑offs, identify root causes, unblock teams, and drive resolution.
  • Lead architecture reviews, solution evaluations, and technical assessments for strategic GEP initiatives.
  • Provide technical guidance to internal engineering teams, operations teams, vendors, and external delivery partners while maintaining clear accountability for architecture decisions.
  • Strengthen Operational Excellence and Reliability: Define architecture expectations for availability, scalability, resilience, recoverability, performance, observability, supportability, and operational readiness. Partner with engineering and operations teams to improve monitoring, alerting, incident response, root‑cause analysis, capacity planning, and long‑term corrective actions.
  • Ensure new and changed solutions include production readiness, support processes, documentation, security controls, and measurable service expectations.
  • Use operational insights and recurring issue patterns to influence platform roadmaps and continuous improvement priorities.
  • Embed Security and Risk Management: Partner with Global Cyber Defense, privacy, legal, engineering, and product teams to ensure cloud platforms and applications meet enterprise security, regulatory, and contractual requirements. Define secure architecture patterns for identity, access, network connectivity, certificates, keys, secrets, application communication, software delivery, and cloud services.
  • Own product security reviews, vulnerability remediation, penetration testing, incident response, risk assessments, and architecture sign‑offs.
  • Ensure architecture decisions appropriately balance business value, delivery needs, operational impact, security risk, and long‑term platform health.
  • Enable Innovation and Emerging Capabilities: Lead proof‑of‑concept initiatives and technical evaluations for emerging cloud, AI, automation, analytics, and connected‑equipment capabilities within GEP. Partner with Product and Engineering teams to move promising concepts from evaluation into scalable, secure, and supportable platform capabilities. Provide architecture guidance for AI‑enabled and data‑driven solutions, including required integrations, cloud services, security controls, operational models, and lifecycle considerations.
  • Promote a test, learn, and iterate approach while maintaining clear evaluation criteria and alignment to business priorities.
  • Partner Across the GEP Ecosystem: Work closely with product leadership, platform engineering, software engineering, Unified IoT, data teams, security, operations, experience teams, and equipment platform teams. Serve as the cloud architecture point of contact for strategic initiatives involving GEP applications, connected equipment platforms, cloud modernization, integrations, deployments, security, and operational capabilities.
  • Influence architecture and roadmap decisions across internal and external stakeholders without relying on direct reporting authority.
  • Provide technical leadership and architecture guidance to vendors and delivery partners, ensuring solutions align with GEP‑defined and enterprise standards rather than being defined independently by third parties.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • 10+ years in cloud architecture, enterprise architecture, software engineering, platform engineering, infrastructure architecture, or related technical leadership roles.
  • Experience with security architecture, vulnerability management, certificate and key management, incident response, and secure software delivery.
  • Experience defining architecture across complex, multi‑system enterprise environments with globally distributed users, teams, or technology platforms.
  • Strong experience with AWS and Azure cloud services, application architecture, APIs, integration patterns, networking, identity, security, observability, and highly available systems.
  • Experience developing technology roadmaps and leading cloud modernization, migration, or platform transformation initiatives.
  • Experience partnering across product, software engineering, infrastructure, operations, security, data, and business stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide strategic architecture leadership while remaining hands‑on enough to investigate complex technical issues and guide resolution.
  • Ability to translate business needs and technical constraints into clear architecture recommendations, priorities, trade‑offs, and executable plans.
  • Experience leading vendors, external partners, and geographically distributed delivery teams.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or a related field.
Preferred Skills
  • Experience with IoT, connected devices, telemetry, operational technology, digital equipment, manufacturing systems, or distributed edge platforms.
  • Experience supporting cloud‑native application patterns, containers, serverless technologies, messaging, event‑driven architectures, APIs, and infrastructure automation.
  • Experience with DevOps, CI/CD, software delivery controls, infrastructure as code, observability, reliability engineering, and operational readiness practices.
  • Experience evaluating AI‑enabled solutions, analytics capabilities, automation, or emerging technologies through proof‑of‑concept and technical assessment activities.
  • Experience working with external partners, OEMs, vendors, bottlers, franchise networks, or customer‑facing technology ecosystems.
  • Product ownership or platform product experience, including roadmap planning, priority management, stakeholder alignment, and lifecycle management.
  • Proficiency with automation and scripting technologies, including Python, PowerShell, and Bash.
