We are working to provide the best financial services to users in Japan. We empower PayPay products by realizing efficient, stable and optimized storage services. PayPay is looking for Cloud Platform Engineers who specialize in databases at scale on mission critical systems.

Main Responsibilities

• Database operations, including monitoring, configuration management, upgrade, scaling, backup, and data migration.
• Iterate on database operations to improve quality and efficiency.
• Troubleshoot stability and performance problems.
• Contribute to documentation for communicating knowledge, experience and effective decision-making.
• Research and test new tools in database ecosystems, and adopt them in PayPay Group.

Qualifications

• More than 5 years of DBA experience with a minimum of 3 years MySQL or PostgreSQL experience.
• More than 3 years of AWS experience in recent years.
• Hands-on experience with Infra as Code (IaC - Terraform).
• Interested in new technologies and willing to improve operational quality and efficiency.
• Familiar with shell and programming language for scripting (Python, Go, ...).

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in automating operations related to Database or AWS.
• Familiarity with Jenkins, Ansible, Docker, Kubernetes.
• Working experience in a full remote environment.
• Experience working with NoSQL such as Redis, Valkey and DynamoDB.
• Experience working with NewSQL databases (like TiDB).
• Experience with DBs cost reduction.
• Experience with DBs Disaster Recovery strategies.
• Hybrid Workstyle (flexible working style including Remote and office). There are no fixed rules regarding office attendance in Product group; it depends on each individual's discretion.
• In principle, 9:00am-5:45pm (actual working hours: 7h45m + 1h break).

Paid Leave

• Annual leave (up to 14 days in the first year, granted proportionally according to the month of employment. Can be used from the date of hire).
• Personal leave (5 days each year, granted proportionally according to the month of employment). PayPay’s own special paid leave system for illnesses, injuries, hospital visits, etc., of the employee, family members, pets, etc.
• Annual salary paid in 12 installments (monthly).
• Based on skills, experience, and abilities. Reviewed once a year.
• Special Incentive once a year based on company performance and individual contribution and evaluation.
• Late overtime allowance. Payroll payment can be changed to digital salary payment “PayPay Paycheck” for an amount set by you.
• Social Insurance (health insurance, employee pension, employment insurance and compensation insurance).
