Job summary

Evlos is seeking a Cloud Platform Engineer with strong AWS experience, Python or Go skills, and solid Linux fundamentals. This Hybrid role lets you contribute to cutting-edge Big Data and Cloud solutions alongside a collaborative team.

You will design and deploy infrastructure using IaC, integrate open-source components, and resolve complex technical issues, while aligning with the Architects' strategic goals.

Qualifications

• Active U.S. Government Secret security clearance required at hire.
• U.S. citizenship is required.
• 5+ years in Platform Engineering or Software Development with Python or Go and a related degree.
• 3+ years with a Master's degree; or 9+ years with HS diploma.
• Experience deploying infrastructure in AWS.
• Experience with Kubernetes or a Kubernetes-based platform.
• Strong Linux, networking, security, and applications knowledge.
• Shell scripting proficiency (Shell/Bash).
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
• Ability to work in a hybrid environment with two days in the San Antonio office.

Evlos is seeking a talented Cloud Platform Engineer with experience in cloud technologies, particularly AWS, strong programming skills in languages such as Python or Go, and a solid Linux foundation.

In this role, you will contribute significantly to the development of custom software components and the integration of open-source technologies to solve complex technical challenges using cutting-edge Big Data and Cloud technologies.

We’re looking for someone who is comfortable working autonomously, identifying and solving problems quickly, and collaborating with a talented technical team toward broader strategic goals established by the team’s Architects.

This position is performed in a hybrid environment and offers the opportunity to work alongside a collaborative team solving challenging problems for our customers.

Essential Job Responsibilities

• Serve as a strong systems integrator with an eye for opportunities to enhance, optimize, and improve the robustness of existing systems and codebases.
• Leverage infrastructure-as-code principles and modern tools to define, build, deploy, and manage virtual infrastructure in the cloud.
• Design and implement core architecture, functionality, and capabilities for software solutions from prototype through operational deployment.
• Develop and integrate custom software components and open-source technologies to support complex Cloud and Big Data environments.
• Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve complex technical issues while working both independently and collaboratively with the broader engineering team.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of development, deployment, and operational processes.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• Active U.S. Government Secret security clearance required at the time of hire.
• U.S. citizenship is required.
• 5+ years of relevant experience in Platform Engineering or Software Development, including experience with Python or Go, with a Bachelor's degree in a related field; OR
• 3+ years of relevant experience with a Master's degree in a related field; OR
• High School Diploma or equivalent with 9+ years of relevant experience.
• Demonstrated experience developing and deploying infrastructure in AWS.
• Experience with Kubernetes or a Kubernetes-based platform.
• Strong understanding of Linux systems, hosts, networking, security, and applications.
• Proficiency with shell scripting, including Shell/Bash.
• Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to identify, analyze, and troubleshoot complex technical issues.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work in a hybrid environment, spending an average of two days per week in the San Antonio office. Flexibility is required to accommodate changes in customer or team schedules as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience with or familiarity with DISA's Big Data Platform or other Big Data technologies and platforms, such as Cloudera Distribution of Hadoop, Hortonworks Data Platform, MapR, or similar technologies.
• Experience building or supporting CI/CD pipelines using tools such as GitLab CI/CD, Jenkins, Travis CI, or similar platforms.
• Understanding of Agile software development methodologies and experience with common development and collaboration tools such as Jira, Confluence, GitHub, and GitLab.
• Experience with configuration management and automation tools such as Puppet or Ansible.
• Experience with Maven and virtualization technologies such as oVirt, Proxmox, VMware, or similar platforms.
• DoD 8140 / 8570 IAT Level II compliant certification(s) may be required based on customer or position requirements.
