Job summary

Instinet's Cloud Operations team manages daily operations for Instinet's cloud portfolio on the AWS platform. Collaboration with Applications and Infrastructure teams ensures reliable, scalable cloud operations and cost controls.

You will develop automation using Ansible, Terraform, CloudFormation and Python, support up to 100 accounts via AWS Organizations, and drive monitoring, change management and incident response with a strong focus on continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of experience operating applications within AWS.
• AWS Certified SysOps Administrator or higher certification.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code via CloudFormation or Terraform.
• Shell scripting, Python, YAML and JSON configuration files.
• Experience with CI/CD tools like Gitlab/Jenkins/CodeCommit.
• Experience with service desks such as JIRA/ServiceNow.
• Minimum 3 years of Operations/NOC experience including monitoring and remediation.
• CLI administration in Linux/Unix; Git usage via CLI.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field.

Responsibilities

• Operate cloud environments on AWS and collaborate with Application and Infra teams.
• Develop automation and integrations in AWS, Gitlab and JIRA using Python and Shell.
• Triage, schedule and execute incoming service requests via JIRA Service Desk.
• Monitor real-time KPIs, provide alerting, issue isolation and remediation.
• Support change management, provisioning and landing zone activities.
• Maintain automation for BAU tasks like account creation and cost oversight.
• Prepare monthly operations KPI reports and drive continuous improvement.

Job description

• Instinet Cloud Operations team manages daily operations for Instinet's cloud portfolio primarily based on the Amazon Web Services (AWS) platform.
• Collaborate with Applications and Infrastructure teams to operate the cloud environment.
• Configuration Management, application deployment, and intra-service orchestration experience using Ansible/Terraform/CloudFormation/Python.
• Engineering and implementation of established AWS cloud operations patterns to support up to 100 accounts via AWS Organizations.
• Development of automation and integrations within AWS, Gitlab and JIRA environments utilizing Python and Shell scripting.
• Real-time monitoring and alerting, proactive notifications, problem isolation and remediation.
• Cloud environment change management, coordination and provisioning/execution.
• Management and oversight of automation for BAU activities such as account creation, landing zone management, application inventory, trusted advisor recommendations, cost oversight, operational guard rails, etc.
• Software Lifecycle Maintenance (development and bug fixes) of established automation frameworks such as Backup management, cost management, landing zone, etc.
• Manage incoming service requests via JIRA Service Desk.
• Perform triage, scheduling and execution of incoming requests.
• Coordinate with internal teams to successfully resolve requests.
• Monthly reporting of operations KPIs; apply continuous improvement methodology to support required KPIs.

Requirements

• Minimum 1 year of experience with operating applications within Amazon Web Services (AWS)
• Current AWS Certified SysOps Administrator certification or a higher AWS Professional certification
• Experience with Infrastructure As Code technologies such as CloudFormation (preferred) or Terraform
• Experience with Shell scripting, Python and configuration files based on YAML and JSON
• Experience with CI/CD technologies such as Gitlab, Jenkins or CodeCommit/Build/Deploy
• Experience utilizing service desk tools such as JIRA, Service Now, etc.
• Minimum 3 years of Operations and/or NOC experience including monitoring, alert response, problem isolation and remediation.
• Ability to utilize and perform administration via a command line interface in Linux or Unix
• Knowledge and experience utilizing Git via command line
• Bachelors degree in Computer Science or related field
