Job summary

Whitecap Search is seeking a skilled network engineer to join our team in Massachusetts. You will work with cutting-edge network technologies and cloud environments to ensure robust and secure operations across on-prem and cloud platforms.

The role demands hands-on experience with LAN/WAN infrastructure, firewalls, VPNs, and cloud networking, plus strong problem solving and documentation skills. You will contribute to incident response, capacity planning, and architecture improvements,

Qualifications

Experience configuring LAN/WAN infrastructure with routers, switches, and firewalls.
Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, SNMP, NTP, STP, OSPF, BGP, ACLs, VPN.
Proficiency with network monitoring tools such as SolarWinds and PRTG; Wireshark experience.
CLI-based troubleshooting and scripting in Python or PowerShell.
Experience with ITSM platforms (ServiceNow preferred) for ticketing.
Cisco CIEE Certification.
Exposure to GCP or AWS Networking (VPC, VPN, routing).
AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner.
Experience with network automation tools like Ansible and Terraform.
Knowledge of ITIL framework and change management.

Responsibilities

Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot LAN/WAN infrastructure including routers, switches, and firewalls.
Support day-to-day network operations including incident resolution, change management, and performance monitoring.
Assist in the design and implementation of network architecture improvements to enhance reliability, scalability, and security.
Monitor network performance and proactively identify and resolve bottlenecks or failures.
Maintain accurate network documentation, diagrams, and configuration records.
Participate in on-call to support critical network infrastructure.
Support integration of on-premises network infrastructure with GCP and/or AWS cloud environments.
Assist in the configuration and maintenance of cloud VPN tunnels and hybrid connectivity.
Collaborate with cloud teams to ensure proper VPC networking, security groups, and routing configurations.
Gain exposure to cloud-native networking tools such as AWS VPC, CloudWatch, and GCP Cloud Networking.
