Job summary

The Governor's Office of Information Technology (OIT) seeks a strategic Principal Developer to lead modernization and architectural evolution of statewide applications. You will guide migration to cloud-centric microservice architectures, ensure data integrity, and enforce robust engineering standards while mentoring developers to raise code quality.

You will oversee full SDLC activities, collaborate with stakeholders on modernization roadmaps, and ensure regulatory compliance including WCAG 2.1

Qualifications

• Seven (7) years of progressive software engineering experience across full-stack development, systems architecture, and support operations.
• Experience applying digital accessibility regulations and standards (e.g., WCAG 2.1).
• Experience evaluating migration pathways from legacy environments to modern platforms and managing technical debt.

Responsibilities

• Engineer Full-Stack Solutions: develop and deliver end-to-end software across UI, server, and data layers with automated tests and deployments.
• Architect Systems & Interoperability: design end-to-end architectures with clear data exchange interfaces and interoperability standards.
• Support Agency Modernization: guide modernization roadmap, evaluate options, and migrate from legacy to modern platforms.
• Establish Engineering Standards & Best Practices: define and lead reusable patterns, coding guidelines, automated tests, and modular design.
• Govern Data & Security Pipelines: plan data migrations with secure pipelines and controls for PII, CJIS, HIPAA.
