Job summary

NetApp’s Azure NetApp Files (ANF) team seeks a software engineer to design, develop, and own backend microservices and REST APIs for cloud-scale services. You’ll work across the full SDLC, building resilient APIs with Docker, Kubernetes, and modern CI/CD practices.

You will contribute to API lifecycles, collaborate across teams, and enhance reliability, scalability, and security of data infrastructure. A BS/BA in CS or EE is required, MS preferred.

Qualifications

• 4-8 years of software engineering experience building production software, backend services, distributed systems, or cloud-native platforms.
• Hands-on development experience in Go, C++, or C#.
• Experience developing REST APIs or service integrations as part of core product work.
• Experience building microservices end-to-end (design, implementation, testing, deployment, production support).
• Experience with Docker and containerized service development (building or maintaining images).
• Experience developing or modifying Kubernetes-based services or components (not just admin).
• Experience using PostgreSQL or MongoDB in app/API development (not just DB admin).
• Strong software quality practices including automated tests, CI/CD, observability, and secure development.
• Ability to communicate design tradeoffs and project status clearly to tech and cross-functional stakeholders.
• Creative and analytical approach to solving complex engineering problems.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and own production-quality REST APIs and backend service components for ANF cloud services.
• Build API functionality end-to-end: design, implementation, testing, deployment, monitoring, and production support.
• Develop cloud-native microservices using containers, Docker, Kubernetes, and modern CI/CD pipelines.
• Contribute to service lifecycle workflows for APIs to create, manage, update, and delete resources.
• Translate customer and product requirements into scalable, secure services across the full SDLC.
• Develop or modify Kubernetes-based service components with deeper engineering depth.
• Work with PostgreSQL or MongoDB as part of app and API development.
• Collaborate with architects, product management, and peers to deliver reliable cloud-service capabilities.
• Participate in architecture reviews, design discussions, code reviews, and operational readiness.
