Job summary

Google in Sunnyvale, CA is seeking a Software Engineer III for Infrastructure within Google Cloud. You will help build a performant, reliable node management agent and work closely with cluster management software, the Linux kernel, and hardware platforms to support hyperscale services.

This senior role requires proficiency in C/C++, experience with large-scale distributed systems, and the ability to review designs and mentor teammates across multiple teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 2 years of experience with software development or 1 year with an advanced degree.
• 2 years of experience with developing large-scale infrastructure, distributed systems or networks, or compute/storage hardware.
• Experience in low-level systems programming languages (e.g., C++ or C).
• Experience working on the Linux Kernel.

Responsibilities

• Participate in, or lead design reviews with peers and stakeholders to decide amongst available technologies.
• Review code developed by other developers and provide feedback to ensure best practices (e.g., style guidelines, checking code in, accuracy, testability, and efficiency).
• Triage product or system issues and debug/track/resolve by analyzing the sources of issues and the impact on hardware, network, or service operations and quality.
• Designing, implementing, and analyzing low-level computer systems and their interactions with the Linux kernel and hardware.
• Collaborating with partner teams as well as users across Google e.g., cluster management teams, ML teams, hardware platform teams, SRE teams, Google Cloud.
