Job summary

Vitaver & Associates, Inc. seeks a Cloud Infrastructure Architect to lead the design, implementation, and governance of secure, scalable AWS cloud architectures for enterprise applications in Tallahassee, FL.

This onsite role requires 7+ years in systems architecture and strong AWS, security, and networking expertise. The successful candidate will mentor technical teams, coordinate across stakeholders, and ensure reliable cloud operations while aligning with governance standards and on-call

Qualifications

• 7+ years of systems architecture experience.
• Experience with AWS core services and cloud architecture including HA, fault tolerance, scalability and DR.
• Cloud security best practices and compliance experience.
• Networking design including VPC, routing, DNS, load balancing, and hybrid connectivity.
• Linux/Windows system administration and scripting automation (Python/PowerShell/Bash).
• Designing and troubleshooting scalable, secure cloud solutions with monitoring, logging and performance tuning.
• Experience leading and mentoring technical teams and managing on-call incidents.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain scalable, secure AWS cloud architectures for enterprise applications.
• Lead AWS cloud solutions and guide development, infrastructure, and security teams on best practices.
• Develop and enforce cloud governance, standards, and operational procedures as part of CCoE.
• Automate provisioning and management using Terraform and CloudFormation.
• Monitor performance, availability, and cost, and drive improvements across AWS environments.
• Lead cloud migration efforts from on-premises to cloud.
• Provide software development estimates as directed.

14628 – Cloud Infrastructure Architect (onsite) - Tallahassee, FL

Start Date: ASAP
Type: Temporary Project
Estimated Duration: 12+ months with possible extensions
Work Setting: Candidates are expected to work full-time and primarily onsite in Tallahassee, FL. Some remote work is acceptable and must be agreed upon by the Agency.

Only candidates able to relocate as required should apply to avoid removal from future consideration.

Required:

• Availability to work 100% of the time at the Client's site in Tallahassee, FL (required).
• Experience in systems architecture (7+ years);
• Experience with AWS core services and cloud architecture, including high availability, fault tolerance, scalability, and disaster recovery.
• Experience with cloud security best practices and compliance frameworks.
• Experience with networking design, including VPC, routing, DNS, load balancing, and hybrid connectivity.
• Experience with Linux and/or Windows system administration and scripting automation (Python, PowerShell, Bash).
• Experience designing, implementing, and troubleshooting scalable, secure cloud solutions, including monitoring, logging, and performance tuning.
• Experience leading and mentoring technical teams, communicating with stakeholders, and managing on-call incidents and competing priorities in fast-paced environments.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, or Information Systems.

Preferred:

• Experience working in multi-cloud environments (AWS, Azure, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), and/or Google Cloud Platform (GCP)).
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform and AWS CloudFormation.
• Experience with cloud cost optimization and governance frameworks.
• Experience with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and automation tools.
• Experience working in a government or large enterprise environment.
• Experience with Postgres, Aurora, and Cosmo DB.

Responsibilities:

• Design, implement, and maintain scalable, secure, and highly available cloud architectures within Amazon Web Services (AWS) to support enterprise applications and services.
• Serve as a technical lead and subject matter expert for AWS cloud solutions, providing guidance to development, infrastructure, and security teams on best practices and architecture standards.
• Develop and enforce cloud governance, architecture standards, and operational procedures as part of the Cloud Center of Excellence (CCoE).
• Automate infrastructure provisioning and management using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform and AWS CloudFormation.
• Monitor system performance, availability, and cost optimization across AWS environments, implementing improvements to enhance efficiency and reliability.
• Lead cloud migration efforts, including assessment, planning, design, and execution of on-premises to cloud transitions.
• Provide software development programming estimates as directed.
