Job summary

SAIC is seeking a Cloud Platform Engineer to design, secure, and operate hybrid cloud infrastructure using VMware Cloud Foundation, Kubernetes, Docker, and AWS, onsite at Kirtland AFB in support of Space Force missions.

Responsibilities include designing and maintaining environments, securing clusters, containerizing workloads, and delivering platform performance reports. A TS/SCI eligible clearance and a strong background in virtualization and cloud technologies are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in IT, CS, engineering, or related field.
• 9+ years of related experience; additional experience may substitute per policy.
• Active Top Secret or DOE Q clearance with SCI eligibility; TS/SCI possible.
• Security+ or DoD 8570 IAT II equivalent or ability to obtain within 3 months.
• Hands-on experience with VMware vSphere/VCF and enterprise virtualization.

SAIC is seeking a Cloud Platform Engineer to design, secure, and operate hybrid cloud infrastructure leveraging VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF), Kubernetes, Docker, and AWS in support of U.S. Space Force missions. This position is onsite at Kirtland AFB and directly supports mission‑critical ground systems and operations.

Job Duties

• Design, build, and maintain VMware Cloud Foundation, Kubernetes, and AWS hybrid cloud environments supporting Space Force operations.
• Configure, secure, and troubleshoot vSphere, NSX, vSAN, and production‑grade Kubernetes clusters.
• Containerize and deploy application workloads using Docker and modern CI/CD pipelines.
• Conduct root‑cause analysis, performance tuning, and reliability improvements across compute, storage, and network components.
• Develop and maintain system documentation, architecture artifacts, and recurring platform performance reports.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in IT, CS, engineering, or related field with 9+ years of related experience; additional experience may substitute per SAIC policy.
• Active Top Secret Clearance or DOE Q clearance with SCI eligibility; able to obtain/maintain TS/SCI.
• Current Security+ (or DoD 8570 IAT II equivalent) or ability to obtain within 3 months.
• 3+ years hands‑on experience designing, configuring, and troubleshooting VMware vSphere/VCF or equivalent enterprise virtualization.
• Experience deploying and managing Kubernetes and containerized workloads (Docker or similar).

Desired Skills / Experience

• Experience with VMware Cloud Foundation 9.x (SDDC Manager, NSX, vSAN) and lifecycle operations.
• AWS experience (GovCloud preferred): VPC design, IAM, EC2/EKS, hybrid integrations.
• Familiarity with automation tools (Terraform, Ansible), CI/CD pipelines, and Git workflows.
• Experience with monitoring/observability stacks (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK) and modern SRE/DevOps practices.
