Amazon Web Services, Inc. is seeking a Software Development Engineer to join the AWS Directory Service team. You will design and build scalable identity infrastructure, control plane APIs, and deployment systems to support millions of requests per second.

Qualifications

5+ years of non‑internship professional software development experience.
5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience.
5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience.
Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team.

Responsibilities

Design and implement core identity infrastructure components including control plane APIs, data plane execution environments, and deployment orchestration systems
Design and implement scalable, highly available services
Develop monitoring, observability, and operational tooling to ensure production reliability and enable rapid incident response
Contribute to technical strategy and architecture decisions for session management, identity/permissions, cross-account access, and security integrations
Mentor junior engineers and drive engineering excellence through code reviews, design reviews, and operational best practices
