Job summary

Leidos is seeking an experienced Cloud Engineering Lead to join the Defense Enclave Services team. You will design, deploy, and manage IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS solutions in Azure, with a focus on cloud modernization for DoD environments.

You will mentor a team of cloud engineers, drive secure architectures, enforce IAM and ICAM practices, and guide migration of on‑premise workloads to the cloud for thousands of users. Remote work is supported with onsite requirements at Ft. Meade as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with 12+ years of relevant experience.
• Experience managing engineering teams and cross-team collaboration.
• Expertise designing, deploying, and operating Azure/AWS/GCP-based solutions.
• Experience with IDAM, AzureAD, CyberArk, Okta or similar ICAM.
• Experience with IaC, CI/CD, and automation like Ansible or Azure Functions.
• Knowledge of federal security requirements: NIST, FedRAMP, FISMA.
• Ability to work in a distributed team with strong communication.
• Current IAT Level II Certification such as Security+ or CISSP.

Leidos is seeking an experience Cloud Engineering Lead to join our Defense Enclave Services (DES) team, who will support an extensive digital modernization program critical to Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) and Department of Defense (DoD) Fourth Estate Agencies. The Senior Cloud Engineer will design, develop, configure, and deploy IaaS/PaaS and SaaS services within the Azure Cloud to fulfill end user requirements.

The position will support multiple engineering projects modernizing the DoD Environment, including the migration of applications from on-premise to the cloud and zero-trust network initiatives. Engineering efforts will include design, deployment, test, and migration of the solutions the candidate develops.

JOB LOCATION

CLEARANCE REQUIREMENT

Must possess an Active SECRET or above DoD clearance to be considered. (US Citizenship required)

Primary Responsibilities

• Provide thought leadership and mentoring to team of cloud engineers, including frequent collaboration with the other technical team leads and solutions engineers
• Design and deploy as code system architecture for IaaS/PaaS/SaaS services in the Azure Cloud
• Provide inputs to the design of the enterprise's cloud and mission architecture
• Evaluate and support application architectures across platforms to ensure alignment to cloud and application modernization strategies, capabilities and requirements
• Continually identify opportunities for improvement, including innovations aimed at improving the user experience, improving efficiencies, and lowering sustainment costs
• Enforce security best practices and guidelines, leveraging knowledge of security policies, network security, and data security
• Initiate frequent interactions with the team of cloud engineers to identify areas of improvement and facilitate their career growth, including participation in annual performance reviews
• Scale cloud solutions, and migrate data center capabilities to the cloud, enabling the support of Fourth Estate Networks and Users supporting approximately 400k users.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience and 12+ years of prior relevant experience
• Experience managing teams of engineers, including mentoring and fostering communication and collaboration across the team
• Expertise designing, deploying, and operating solutions built on Azure, AWS or GCP
• Experience with Identity Access Management (IDAM), AzureAD, and CyberArk, Okta or other modern ICAM solutions.
• Experience developing and deploying Infrastructure as Code (IaC), utilizing continuous integration / continuous deployment (CI/CD) tools, and leveraging automation platforms such as Ansible or Azure Functions
• Understanding of Federal Government application, server, and network security requirements such as NIST, FedRAMP, and FISMA
• Ability to work effectively within a distributed technical team, aided by strong written and verbal communication skills
• Current IAT Level II (or higher) Certification such as Security + or CISSP

Preferred Qualifications

• Recognized cloud certification, such as Microsoft Azure Associate Administrator
• Familiarity with the Atlassian suite, including Jira and Confluence

Pay Range

Pay Range $131,300.00 - $237,350.00
