Job summary

Archer, in collaboration with Planet Technologies, seeks a Cloud Engineer to design, develop, deploy, and optimize secure cloud solutions across the enterprise. You will lead cloud-native development and migration strategies, focusing on cost efficiency and resilience, in a role that blends architecture with hands-on engineering.

On-site in Huntsville, AL, you will work with DevSecOps practices, IaC tools, and multi-cloud platforms, while maintaining an active TS clearance.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software or cloud development experience, with at least 3 years in a senior or lead cloud role and a bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or related field; or equivalent work experience.
• Deep hands-on experience with major cloud providers and hybrid/multi-cloud environments.
• Advanced skills in Python, Java, or similar programming languages for cloud-native development.
• Expert in automation tools (Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible) and containerization platforms (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Strong understanding of DevSecOps principles and secure software development.
• Proven experience building, deploying, and supporting mission-critical cloud applications.
• Ability to work on site 5 days a week and hold and maintain an active TS clearance

Responsibilities

• Researches, architects, develops, and/or modifies enterprise-wide systems and/or applications software including DevOps, security, and data analytic solutions.
• Drives, collaborates, and supports the planning of system and development deployment as well as meeting software compliance standards with a particular focus involving integrations and data analytic solutions.
• Implements prototypes using new technologies and innovative techniques.
• Performs ongoing maintenance and review of application systems and programs, identifies problems, and develops appropriate solutions
• Architect Cloud Solutions: designs and implement cloud service delivery models (PaaS, IaaS, SaaS, DaaS) and scalable multi-cloud architectures.
• DevSecOps & Automation: Implements Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC), CI/CD pipelines, and automated configuration management using tools such as Terraform, Ansible, Jenkins, and GitLab.
• Cloud Migration & Modernization: Analyzes existing applications to determine cloud readiness and develop tailored migration strategies.
• Optimization & Resiliency: Develops strategies for cloud failure recovery, high availability, disaster recovery, and cost optimization.
• Security & Governance: Collaborates with cybersecurity and compliance teams to meet standards and monitor for vulnerabilities.
