Job summary

Sysco is seeking a Cloud Engineer to lead design and management of our cloud infrastructure on Google Cloud Platform. This hybrid role requires on-site presence 3–4 days per week, with flexibility based on business needs.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate requirements into scalable GCP solutions, focusing on data architecture, security, and reliability, while guiding DevOps practices using GitHub, Jenkins, Docker and Terraform.

Qualifications

• Extensive knowledge of GCP infrastructure, services, and database solutions.
• Successful track record architecting, designing, implementing, and managing cloud systems, including hybrid architectures.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.

Job Summary:

As a Cloud Engineer , you will oversee the design, implementation, and management of our cloud infrastructure on theGoogle Cloud Platform. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to assess requirements, develop cloud solutions, and ensure the security, scalability, and reliability of our cloud-based systems. The ideal candidate should have a strong background inGCPinfrastructurearchitecture and a deep understanding ofGCP Database solutions,Dataarchitectureanddata analytics solutions. You willparticipatein architecture reviews ofGCPenvironments, bring engineering best practices, leadand implementchanges, and inspire teams toward delivery excellence at Sysco.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Lead the implementation of theGoogle Cloud PlatformData architecture while collaborating with cross-functional teams.
• Design, implement, and manage highly availableand scalable cloud infrastructure on theGoogle Cloud Platform.
• Collaborate with stakeholders and application teams to understand business requirements, translate them into cloud architecture designs, and provide operational support to application teams.
• Develop andmaintainclouddatamigration strategies, including assessing existing systems,identifyinggaps, and recommending remediationand infrastructure implementationplans.
• Ensure the security, availability, and performance ofGCPresources through proper design and configuration.
• Implement and optimize cloud-based infrastructure solutions, such as virtual networks, private service access, storage, databases, compute resources, and identity and access management.
• Define and enforce cloud governance policies, including resource tagging, access controls, and cost management.
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve issues related toGCPinfrastructure, ensuring high availability and performance.
• Stay up to date with the latest trends and advancements inGCPand cloud computing technologies and provide recommendations for continuous improvement.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, includingData architects,developers,networkadministrators, security specialists, and cloud providersto ensure seamless integration of cloud solutions.
• Work with DevOps andIaCtools such as GitHub, Jenkins,DockerandTerraform.
• Ensure the security and compliance of all Sysco’s infrastructure, data, applications, and configurations.
• Design / Develop Scripts for Automation whereappropriate.

Education Required:

• Extensive knowledge ofGCPinfrastructure, services, andDatabase solutions, includingGCP private/internal access technologies,CloudStorage,GCPBigQuery,Cloud Spanner,Dataflow,Dataprocetc
• Should have a successfultrack recordin architecting, designing, implementing, and managing systems and infrastructure in a cloud computing environment, includinghybrid architectures.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or appropriate related field is preferred. Equivalent work experience may be substituted for these education requirements.

Education Preferred:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science

Experience Required:

• 3 years of relevant experience in public cloud administration (Google Cloud Platform. )

Experience Preferred:

• 5 years preferred

Licenses/Certifications Required:

• Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert
• AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Professional

Licenses/Certifications Preferred:

• GCP Certified Cloud Engineer
• Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate
• GCP Cloud Architect
• VMware Certified Professional

Working experience with native cloud technologies, 3rd party automation tools as such as Jenkins, Terraform, Chef, Cloud Custodian, and automation/scripting via CLI including Python, Bash and Powershell.
