Job summary

BCore is seeking a Cloud Engineer in Springfield, VA or St. Louis, MO to join a busy Mission Services team. You will automate deployments, optimize performance, and integrate with enterprise authentication while maintaining security protocols.

Ideal candidates have TS clearance with SCI eligibility, strong AWS, TypeScript/JavaScript, and Angular experience, plus a background in DevOps and CI/CD pipelines in a PaaS context.

Qualifications

• Requires Bachelor's degree in Computer Programming, Science, Engineering or related field.
• Eight or more years of experience are required.
• Active TS clearance with SCI eligibility is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities

What you get to do every day:

As the Cloud Engineer you will work with a highly functional development team automating service deployments; optimizing system performance; integrating with enterprise authentication services; establishing/improving system monitoring; maintaining established security protocols; provide customers technical support. You will be integrated with an agile environment participating with scrums and other meetings.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

• Work with A&A Team to maintain security requirements for operation of systems
• Maintain and improve existing infrastructure (build out autoscaling, support new services, optimize for cost efficiencies/authentication/search, etc)
• Produce detailed documentation
• Maintain System in AWS environment using EC2, S3, Load Balancer, and RDS
• Automate and optimize service deployments
• Delivering a full-stack web application to production; identifying and resolving operational issues in same
• Actively participating in technical requirements-gathering process (i.e. meetings with customers)
• Executing design and implementation of application features, independently / unassisted, with minimal oversight
• Refactoring legacy application code for improved reliability and maintainability
• Mentoring junior developers
• Writing and reading unit tests; understanding code-quality analysis concepts
• Writing and debugging Javascript, Typescript, or closely-related language
• Developing applications backed by a relational database; understanding RDB design concepts

Qualifications

Clearance Required:

Active TS clearance (with SCI Eligibility) and eligibility to obtain CI Poly

Certification Required:

Meet DoD 8570 IAT Level II requirements including one of the following: Security+ CE, CND, SSCP, GSEC, GICSP, CySA+, or CCNA

Education/Experience:

• Requires Bachelor's degree in Computer Programming, Science, Engineering or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical training, or work/military experience
• 8+ years of experience

Required Skills:

• Strong knowledge of Amazon Web Services
• Strong Troubleshooting skills
• Experience in automating tasks using scripted languages such as Bash, PowerShell, or Perl
• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodology
• Familiarity with DevOps development processes and Continuous Integration tools: GitLab, Jenkins, Nexus
• Extensive Typescript or Javascript background
• Angular frontend framework; UI/UX design
• Microservice-based backend architecture; integrating with COTS/FOSS software REST APIs
• Supporting a full-stack application in a PaaS environment
• CI/CD pipeline implementation, ideally with GitLab
• Creating and deploying containerized applications, ideally with Docker
• Designing/implementing container orchestration with Kubernetes

What is ideal:

• AWS Certified Cloud Practitionerpreferred
• Strong understanding of cloud APIs and interaction with the AWS/CLI
• Experience working with one or more programming languages (e.g. Python, Ruby, or Java)
• Experience with Go programming language
• Familiarity with HTML, CSS, Markdown, and portal development
• Database experience with a Postgres backend
• Strong communication skills
• Intelligence Community Experience preferred

• The expected salary range within the Washington, DC metropolitan area is: $122,000 - $147,000. Final compensation is unique to each individual and will be determined based on factors such as experience, education, geographic location, and contractual requirements. This is not a guarantee.
