Job summary

BNY is seeking a Vice President of Cloud Engineering to lead the Cloud Platform Engineering Team. This role is located in NY/NJ, with offices in Lake Mary, FL, and Pittsburgh, PA.

You will architect and automate cloud infrastructure, design secure solutions in Python/Java, and drive migration strategies across Azure/AWS/GCP. The ideal candidate has 7–9 years of software development experience, 5+ years in cloud engineering, and strong IaC and multi‑cloud expertise.

Qualifications

• 7–9 years of software development experience required.
• 5+ years as a Cloud or Software Engineer with cloud‑native responsibilities.
• Deep expertise in Infrastructure‑as‑Code using Terraform or similar technologies.
• Strong programming proficiency in Python or Java.
• Hands‑on experience with at least one major cloud platform (Azure, AWS, or GCP).
• Multi‑cloud experience is a strong plus.
• Familiar with DevOps/CI‑CD tooling and security considerations.

Responsibilities

• Architect and automate cloud infrastructure using Terraform, Azure Resource Manager, and other IaC tools.
• Design and build secure, maintainable solutions using Python and/or Java.
• Work with AKS, serverless, web technologies, and databases.
• Migrate complex on‑prem apps to Azure/AWS/GCP as part of enterprise cloud strategy.
• Participate in full SDLC from concept through deployment and optimization.
• Collaborate with Security, IAM, and Architecture teams to ensure guardrails.
• Create clear documentation to strengthen operational excellence.
• Stay ahead of cloud trends to continuously improve engineering culture.

Vice President, Cloud Engineering – Cloud Platform Engineering Team

This role is located in NY/NJ, Lake Mary, FL and Pittsburgh, PA.

Responsibilities

• Architect and automate cloud infrastructure using Terraform, Azure Resource Manager, and other Infrastructure‑as‑Code frameworks.
• Design and build robust, secure, and maintainable solutions using modern programming languages such as Python or Java.
• Deep understanding and build applications using AKS, Serverless functions, Web technologies, Databases etc.
• Deep understanding of migrating complex on‑prem applications to Azure, AWS, or GCP, contributing to BNY’s enterprise cloud strategy.
• Participate in full SDLC processes — from concept and design through testing, deployment, and ongoing optimization.
• Collaborate closely with Security, IAM, and Architecture teams to ensure compliance, identity integration, and robust enterprise guardrails.
• Create clear, user‑focused documentation that strengthens operational excellence.
• Stay ahead of emerging cloud trends, tools, and best practices to continuously improve our engineering culture.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience; 7–9 years of software development experience required; experience in the securities or financial services industry is a plus.
• 5+ years of experience as a Cloud Engineer or Software Engineer with cloud‑native responsibilities.
• Deep expertise in Infrastructure‑as‑Code using Terraform or similar technologies.
• Strong programming proficiency (Python, Java, or similar).
• Hands‑on experience with at least one major cloud platform (Azure, AWS, or GCP). Multi‑cloud experience is a strong plus.
• Broad familiarity with cloud fundamentals: compute, serverless, IAM, networking, Security, Containers, DNS, storage, monitoring, and logging.
• Working knowledge of DevOps and CI/CD tooling (Azure DevOps, GitHub, GitLab, Terraform, Ansible).
• Strong communication, analytical thinking, and troubleshooting capabilities.

Salary range: $80,000 to $165,000 per year, depending on experience and location.
