Job summary

Ramtec Consulting LLC is seeking a Cloud Engineer to design, implement, and maintain infrastructure as code using Terraform within an AWS environment. You will drive automation, security, and scalable deployments in a Linux-based environment, collaborating with DevOps and security teams.

The role requires 5+ years in cloud engineering or DevOps, proficiency with Terraform, and hands-on AWS experience. Active TS/SCI clearance preferred. On-site in Herndon, VA with client-focused engagements.

Qualifications

• Strong proficiency with Terraform and cloud technologies.
• Experience with Linux-based development and container orchestration.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain Infrastructure as Code using Terraform.
• Migrate existing CloudFormation code to Terraform and develop reusable modules.
• Collaborate with DevOps, Security, and Engineering teams on CI/CD and deployment strategies.
• Maintain and optimize cloud infrastructure for performance and cost efficiency.

HOW A CLOUD ENGINEER WILL MAKE AN IMPACT

In this role, you'll join our team, providing high-quality, cost-effective cloud solutions to our clients. Be part of a dynamic environment where your expertise in cloud operations will drive significant enhancements in the efficiency and effectiveness of our customers’ operations. As a Cloud Engineer on our team, you will be responsible for distributed and managed services automating the installation, configuration and maintenance of platform services.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

• Design, build, and maintain Infrastructure as Code using Terraform
• Migrate existing CloudFormation code to Terraform
• Develop reusable Terraform modules and maintain version-controlled infrastructure
• Work with DevOps, Security, and Engineering teams to implement CI/CD and deployment strategies

What you will need:

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical training, or work/military experience
• 5+ years of experience in cloud engineering or DevOps
• Strong proficiency with Terraform (writing modules, managing state, workspaces, etc.)
• Hands-on experience with AWS cloud provider
• Experience with DevOps tools and utilities to include Github, Ansible & CDK
• Ability to work effectively in a Linux-based development environment
• Familiarity with containers and orchestration (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)
• Strong knowledge of networking, security, and IAM in the cloud
• Proficient in at least one scripting language

Nice to haves:

• Terraform SME
• Hands-on experience with multiple cloud providers such as [AWS, Azure, OCI, or GCP]
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and automation tools
• Hands on experience with python
• Knowledge of containerization

CLEARANCE:

Active TS/SCI with a Polygraph level clearance.
