Runavir is seeking a Cloud Developer/Integrator to design, implement, and maintain cloud infrastructure in Hanover, MD. You will build reusable modules (Terraform/Helm), enforce IaC standards, and optimize cloud performance for mission-critical systems.

The role requires experience with AWS, containers, and high-availability designs, with on-site work and a TS/SCI with polygraph clearance expectation.

Job description

Cloud Developer/Integrator

Location: Hanover, MD (On-Site) | Status: Open

We are currently seeking a Cloud Developer/Integrator to join a team focused on providing cloud-based geolocation solutions in near-real-time directly to decision makers and warfighters around the world. The ideal candidate has recent experience working with cloud technologies, preferably AWS, including microservices and containers, along with experience migrating applications to cloud environments and maintaining cloud infrastructure at scale.

Work Schedule

Monday through Friday, 8 hours per day, 5 days per week. After-hours call-in may be required.

Essential Responsibilities (describe the day-to-day)
  • Design, implement, and maintain cloud infrastructure, including modernization, migration, and roadmaps, ensuring systems follow best practices and governance requirements.
  • Build reusable modules (Helm Charts, Terraform) and enforce development standards for Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
  • Continuously monitor infrastructure and system health and performance using logging and alerting, identifying issues and implementing solutions for improved efficiency.
  • Develop strategies for failure and recovery (backup, high availability), cost optimization (tagging, budgets, rightsizing, autoscaling), and benefit analysis of cloud services.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance system capabilities and efficiency.
  • Contribute to deliverables such as architectures, runbooks, and operational procedures, and provide knowledge transfer to internal teams.
  • Stay abreast of emerging technologies and recommend enhancements to current systems.
Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands

General office environment. The work environment is fast-paced and sometimes involves extreme deadline pressures. The nature of the work requires a high degree of teamwork and cooperation with other members of the staff as well as individuals across the Company and Customers.

Minimum Requirements (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
  • Experience provisioning, configuring, and managing cloud infrastructure and services, including compute, storage, networking, and IAM.
  • Experience designing and implementing secure, scalable cloud architectures.
  • Experience developing and maintaining Infrastructure as Code using tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or AWS CDK.
  • Knowledge of containers and platform workloads, such as Docker and Kubernetes/EKS/AKS/GKE.
  • Development experience with Java and React.
  • Experience configuring monitoring, logging, and alerting using tools such as CloudWatch, Prometheus/Grafana, or ELK/OpenSearch, and responding to incidents.
  • Experience implementing and testing backup, disaster recovery, and high-availability strategies.
  • Experience managing secrets and key management with tools such as KMS/Key Vault/Secret Manager, including certificates and rotation policies.
  • Experience optimizing cloud cost and performance (tagging, budgets, rightsizing, autoscaling) and producing usage/cost reports.
  • Experience troubleshooting cloud infrastructure issues across networking (DNS, routing, VPN), security, and service limits.
  • Experience documenting architectures, runbooks, and operational procedures.
  • Experience with the Linux OS.
  • Experience with ActiveMQ and/or Kafka, and deployment strategies for high-availability systems.
Security Clearance Required

TS/SCI with Polygraph

Minimum Education

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline from an accredited college or university. Four (4) years of additional software engineering experience on projects with similar software processes may be substituted for a bachelor's degree.

Minimum Years of Experience

Twenty (20) years of experience as a Software Engineer on programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.

$245,000 - $285,000
