Job summary

Snowflake is hiring talented Software Engineers to join our Database Engineering team in the United States. You will work on a petabyte-scale cloud database, focusing on high performance, parallelism, and fault tolerance.

Ideal candidates have 2+ years of industry experience and fluency in Java or C++, with strong CS fundamentals and Linux development experience. Responsibilities include optimizing performance, addressing bottlenecks, and designing algorithms for distributed data processing.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in commercial or open-source software.
• Fluency in Java or C++.
• Familiarity with development in a Linux environment.
• Excellent problem solving skills and strong CS fundamentals (data structures, algorithms, distributed systems).
• Systems programming experience including multi-threading and concurrency.
• Experience with testing, debugging and documentation.
• Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related field; Masters or PhD preferred.
• Ability to work on-site in Menlo Park/Bellevue/Berlin offices.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and support a petabyte-scale cloud database that is highly parallel and fault-tolerant.
• Build high-quality and reliable software to meet the needs of large-scale customers.
• Analyze and address performance and scalability bottlenecks in the system.
• Pinpoint problems, instrument components, and implement solutions.
• Design and implement novel query optimization or distributed data processing algorithms.
• Architect the service architecture to enable the Snowflake Data Cloud.
• Develop tools to improve customers' insights into workloads.
