Responsibilities

• Design and implement Snowflake architecture patterns that support analytics, reporting, governance, security, performance, and operational sustainability.
• Develop target-state data architectures, enterprise data models, schemas, warehouse structures, integration patterns, and data flows.
• Serve as the technical authority for Snowflake-based data architecture across the organization.
• Define and implement standards for data ingestion, transformation, storage, metadata management, lifecycle management, data sharing, and access controls.
• Support enterprise data integration initiatives and promote scalable and governed data access across business and mission systems.
• Guide the integration of Snowflake with data catalog, visualization, workflow, identity management, and enterprise platform ecosystems.
• Optimize platform performance through workload isolation, warehouse sizing, query tuning, monitoring, and cost management strategies.
• Collaborate with governance, cybersecurity, infrastructure, application, and analytics teams to ensure solutions align with security and compliance requirements.
• Establish architecture standards, implementation guidance, and operational procedures that can be effectively adopted by engineering and support teams.
• Create and maintain architecture diagrams, interface specifications, design documentation, operational runbooks, and technical standards.
• Provide technical mentorship and architectural leadership across data platform initiatives.

Job Description

LRS Consulting Services is seeking a Cloud Data Architect (Snowflake) SME who is passionate about designing modern cloud data platforms, enabling enterprise analytics, and transforming complex data ecosystems into scalable, governed, and actionable data solutions. This hybrid direct-hire opportunity offers the chance to serve as a technical leader for enterprise Snowflake architecture initiatives supporting critical business and mission-driven data environments.

Location: Washington, DC (Hybrid - 1 day per week onsite)

Responsibilities

• Design and implement Snowflake architecture patterns that support analytics, reporting, governance, security, performance, and operational sustainability.
• Develop target-state data architectures, enterprise data models, schemas, warehouse structures, integration patterns, and data flows.
• Serve as the technical authority for Snowflake-based data architecture across the organization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Engineering, Data Analytics, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• 8+ years of experience in data architecture, cloud data engineering, enterprise analytics, or data platform implementation.
• 4+ years of hands-on experience designing, implementing, and supporting Snowflake or comparable cloud data platforms.
• Expert knowledge of Snowflake architecture, warehouse design, data modeling, security controls, performance optimization, and cost management.
• Strong understanding of ELT/ETL architectures, data pipelines, APIs, structured and semi-structured data, and data quality management.
• Experience supporting enterprise data integration, governance, analytics, and reporting environments within complex organizations.
• Experience designing scalable cloud-based data architectures that align with operational, governance, and business requirements.
• Strong understanding of role-based access controls, identity integration, logging, monitoring, auditing, and secure data sharing practices.
• Experience developing architecture standards, implementation patterns, and governance frameworks that support long-term platform adoption and sustainability.
• Ability to communicate technical concepts and architecture decisions effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Strong documentation skills, including architecture diagrams, design decisions, interface specifications, and operational procedures.
• Ability to obtain a Public Trust Clearance.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, both written and verbal.

Preferred Qualifications

• SnowPro Advanced Architect, SnowPro Core, or comparable cloud data platform certification.
• Experience supporting federal government, Public Trust, or highly regulated data environments.
• Experience integrating Snowflake with enterprise data catalog, business intelligence, workflow, reporting, and identity management platforms.
• Experience with Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud services supporting cloud data architectures.
• Experience with data integration and transformation tools such as dbt, Fivetran, Matillion, Informatica, Airflow, or similar technologies.
• Knowledge of data governance, data lineage, metadata management, master data management, and reference data practices.
• Experience working within Agile delivery environments.
• Familiarity with DevSecOps practices, Infrastructure as Code, automated deployments, and cloud platform automation.
• Experience supporting security, privacy, compliance, and governance initiatives within enterprise data environments.

The salary range for this direct-hire position is $175,000 - $225,000 annually, plus a comprehensive benefits package. Individual compensation is determined by experience, technical expertise, certifications, education, and other job-related factors.
