Carnegie Robotics is seeking a Software Engineer focused on cloud and backend infrastructure to own end-to-end cloud projects. You will architect solutions, deploy infrastructure, build robust REST APIs in Python, and coordinate with frontend teams to keep systems running smoothly.

The role emphasizes AWS management, cost optimization, observability with Grafana, Prometheus, and Datadog, plus an appetite for AI-assisted development.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a closely related field.
• A few years of cloud engineering or backend development experience.
• Strong Python backend development and ability to build REST APIs.
• Deep experience with core AWS services (EC2, S3, Lambda, RDS, ECS).
• Experience with SQL databases (PostgreSQL) and NoSQL (DynamoDB, MongoDB).
• Infrastructure-as-Code with Terraform preferred; AWS CDK/CloudFormation acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end cloud project development, including architecture and deployment.
• Build and maintain robust backend services and REST APIs in Python.
• Coordinate with frontend developers and external users to understand requirements and scope work.
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize applications for performance and cost.
• Implement security and observability practices using Grafana, Prometheus, and Datadog.
